AUGUST 2nd Annual Marian Procession

Come and join us as we process a statue of our Mother and

Patroness around our beloved town. We will be praying and

asking for her intercession for all that we do as a community

and as a parish. We will start in front of the church at 7:45 PM

on August 21st. We will start with a short blessing and

consecra@on of our town to Mary and her maternal care, and

then from there we will process around the town carrying the

statue of our Lady in the lead. The walk will last around 45

minutes ending again in the front of the church. Come with

strollers, wheelchairs, and feel free to join in or exit the

procession at any @me. If you can't walk feel free to join us in

prayer from a porch or along the route. Everyone is welcome and encouraged

to par@cipate in whatever way they can. We will release the route as the date

gets closer. Feel free to join the procession as it comes by or start with us. Feel

free to bring the whole family.

The Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Page 5 July 9, 2017

Marriage Reflec2on

“Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth; you have revealed to liNle ones the mysteries of the

kingdom.” (cf Mt 11:25)

Whenever I hear the Bible talk about “li!les ones”, I

think of St Therese of Lisieux. Yes, she’s a Doctor of

the Church and has been considered one of the

greatest modern saints. But she considered herself a

li!le soul. If you haven’t read anything about her, her

autobiography “Story of a Soul” is amazing (we have it in our parish

library or there’s this thing called Amazon). Therese had a rough

childhood and came with a lot of “baggage”, as we’d term it nowadays.

However, she also had a great desire to love God; I would bet that many

of us do, too, we just don’t know how. We want to love our spouses

perfectly but it’s hard to do when we’re two very different people. We

want to do selfless things for our spouse but some@mes that’s hard to do

without expec@ng something in return. Here’s a secret from St. Therese:

“God cannot inspire unrealized desires.” So ask God how to realize those

desires. God puts things on our hearts because He knows we’re capable

of so much more than we realize. Be a “li!le soul” and humbly go to God

and ask for His help in making your desires a reality. This will also be

good prac@ce for humbly asking your spouse for help, as well!

Witness to Hope Capital Campaign Update

Thanks so very much to the

astounding generosity of so many

parishioners! Thus far, 551

goal set for us by the Bishop. 100% of

all funds raised from this @me on come back to the parish and thus far

$1,641,771.36 has been raised for St. Mary’s.

Gather the Lost Sheep

St. Francis Retreat Center

Summer Scripture Days provides an

opportunity for adults to:

∗ Set aside @me to focus on Sacred

Scripture

∗ Relate Scripture to their personal

faith life

∗ Reflect on how Scripture can

empower them to pass on their

faith to their families and others

This years theme “Live to Inspire” is

in response to Bishop Earl Boyea’s

pastoral le!er “Go Announce the

Gospel of the Lord” where he says:

“This task of seeking out the lost

sheep is not primarily the

responsibility of the priest or the

deacon. It is primarily the task of the

neighbor, of the rela@ve, of the

friend.”

Together we will reflect on the

scriptural basis for the mission that

Bishop Boyea has given us.
