SCO: The ECC is commited to working for a just peace in South Africa. We believe that while conscription exists, that those unable to serve in the SADF, should be allowed to do a realistic and non-punitive period of useful and alternative non-military service. Our "Working for a Just Peace" campaign will be making a positive and symbolic protest against conscription into the SAM'. Throughout the country, thousands of volunteers v/ill be working on projects of the type which could be of benefit to all South Africans and which will demonstrate their committment to working towards a peaceful future for all in South Africa.
Children's Holiday Programme:In consultation with leaders in the community, the ECO and Concerned Social Workers decided to co-ordinat© i a children’s holiday programme to be run in the Westbury Township area. We believe that we have something to offer each other: to discover resources within ourselves, to foster our creative spirit, to teach each other how to share. We believe that it will be a time of building relationships and teaching new ways of learning : learning through co-operation and consent. If you share some of these ideals, this programme- would welcome you and needs you]Training Programme:In order to better equip you';in the task ofjworking.. with the children, we are holding a training event. This v/ill also be a time of providing further details - about the content and structure of the holiday programme.
