INTRODUCTION

Hello Everyone! This is Rod “Gold Technician” Hill, Gold Acqusitionist, Leader, and Trainer with Karatbars International. First of all, I want to thank you for taking the time out to read this book.

The dollar or “currency” that we use today is losing purchasing power every day. This is because the government is printing millions of dollars every day! And to make it worse, the US dollar, also known as Fiat currency, is not backed by anything of value.

So let me say it another way. We are using a currency that has absolutely no value except what we give it. This is why I say that “Cash is Trash.”

Believe it or not, the dollar used to be backed by Gold. And for some reason, the US decided that it was no longer a good idea. And instead of backing it up with silver or some other valuable precious metal, the US government decided to back it up with nothing!

Why? To keep it simple. The government wanted the ability to print as

much money as they wanted. But with the dollar connected to gold but limited in supply, it made it difficult for the government to print more money. But why would they want to print more money in the first place you ask?

There have been many books written on why this is, so I won’t give you the

entire history lesson. But I think it is important to have some understanding of how we got to this point, so I am going to give you the accelerated version while providing you researchable facts. So pay attention!

On March 14, 1900, the US adopted the Gold Standard, making both gold

and silver the legal-tender coinage of the United States and guaranteed the dollar as convertible to 1.5g of gold.

However, the downturn of the dollar took place some years later. Around the time of World War I, US corporations had large debts payable to European entities, and they began liquidating their debts in gold, along with other countries.


The debt issue became so bad that on July 31, 1914, the New York Stock Exchange closed and the gold standard was temporarily suspended. To defend the exchange value of the dollar, the US treasury department authorized state and nationally charted banks to issue emergency currency. Also during this time, the Federal Reserve was created. Some years later, the suspension was lifted and we remained on the Gold Standard. However, President Wilson banned gold export, thereby suspending the gold standard from foreign exchange.

Fast forwarding in time, the Great Depression took place, then every major currency abandoned the gold standard. Then in early 1933, the gold standard was yet again suspended. (This was the second time it was suspended.)

On April 5, 1933, Executive Order 1602 was signed by FDR, ordering US

citizens to turn in their gold and took the United States off of the Gold Standard completely.

The gold reserve act of 1934 was passed shortly thereafter, which outlawed

most private possession of gold and gold certificates, forcing individuals to sell it to the Treasury. The gold was then stored at Fort Knox and other locations. In other words, they ROBBED the US citizens of their wealth.

These events gave the government the opportunity to pump more money into

the economy and lower interest rates. After WWII, the US tried to bring stability to our global financial system. So in 1944, the Bretton-Woods agreement established the US dollar as the world global reserve currency. The gold standard was once again put in place, also known as the “gold exchange Standard”.

All other currencies would be pegged to the dollar. The dollar would then

be pegged to gold at a price of $35 an ounce. During this time, the US-owned over half of the world’s official gold reserves, 574 Million Ounces! (Remember Executive Order 1602 and the Gold Reserve Act of 1934?)


All was well, so it appeared. But then in 1971, Richard Nixon announced that the US would again be taken off the Gold Standard, temporarily (There’s that word again). He suspended the convertibility of the dollar into gold or other reserve assets.

This yet again gave the US government the opportunity to pump more fiat

currency into our economy. This time in hyper drive and nothing backing it! They were now able to pay off debts from all these wars we were a part of

and who knows what else. What we do know is this decision definitely birthed the modern-day fiat currency system we are in today. And we have yet been back on the Gold Standard since.

So what does this have to do with you ask? Well, these chain of events has

to lead to more and more printing of US dollars, which continued to decrease the buying power of our dollar. At the time of this writing, the US National debt is $21 trillion dollars and counting! This eventually will lead to a financial crisis. To put in perspective, 40 years ago, a dollar would’ve bought you four loaves of bread. A gram of gold would’ve bought you 5 loaves of bread. So the buying power was about even. If you fast forward today, a gram of Gold will buy you over 20 loaves of bread, while a dollar today will only get you half of loaf or less.

So basically, of the past 100 years, the dollar has lost 98% of its purchasing power, while Gold since 1971 has soared to over 3000%. This is the distinct difference between paper currency, or what is known as fiat currency, versus Gold, or what we call Real Money. Please understand that even though one dollar equals 100 pennies, it’s what the dollar can buy you that matters.

When prices of goods and services increase, this is called inflation. When

prices increase but your income doesn’t, or you don’t own assets that appreciate in value above inflation, you could be at risk of a financial disaster in your own home!
