ALGEBRA IFunction Family Tree Project
Your task is to build a Function Family Tree. This will test your knowledge of the types of Transformations applied to Parent Functions.
You will start with a Parent Function who will have two children, Child A and Child B. Each child will have one different transformation applied to it. You will need to identify each transformation and graph the new function.
The two “children functions” you just graphed will each meet a function they fancy and get married, Spouse A and Spouse B. Each spouse will have one different transformation applied to it. You will need to identify the transformations and graph the functions of each of their spouses.
The two new happy couples will each have two children of their own, called Grandchildren. You will need to combine the equations of their parents, identify the functions, and graph the new functions for the first child. Then, you will perform the opposite transformations on the second child. So, the first child will be a combination of the transformations of the parents, and the second child will be the opposite of the transformations of the parents.
These 2 families will each adopt a child. You will need to identify each transformation and graph the new function of the adopted child. The adopted should come from a different “family.”
**Your graphs must be accurate. Once you find the equations of the functions you need to graph, plug them into the calculator and use the table of values to build your graphs.**
