Paper #4

For your fourth paper, your assignment will be to create a presentation essay. Your presentation essay will consist, not mainly of words, but of photographs. Using our discussion of visual analysis, you will use photographs to create a persuasive argument.

Remember that your argument should pass the “so what?” question, and be an arguable, contentious claim.

For your presentation essay, you'll be using photographs to 'write' your essay, with only a few words. Your topic can be any specific

topic within the scope of themes from The Book of Unknown Americans.. Bullying, immigration, citizenship, abuse, education, and poverty are a few choices you can use.

You may write a few words to discuss your thesis and some of the work throughout, but mainly, I want you to tell your story/communicate your thesis

through photos.

Make sure to use MLA documentation to create a Works Cited page for your photographs as well. You may also take your own photographs if you like. You will give a short presentation in class, discussing your photographic essay, using powerpoint or film.

You should have at least 12 photos or slides. Please create a presentation that is no more than 10 minutes long.
