GUIDELINES FOR OBTAINING THE FOUNDATION PRACTICE CERTIFICATE TO BECOME A MEMBER OF ISMAUK
The Foundation Practice Certificate is issued to all Members who have satisfied ISMAuk as to their level of skills, knowledge and experience in relation to the prevention and management of Stress both at work and in other settings. This may be achieved by:
Demonstrating the acquisition of skills, knowledge and experience based on a recognised professional qualification plus two years’ relevant experience
OR
Acquiring the skills, knowledge and experience by successfully completing a Foundation Programme accredited by ISMAuk plus two years’ relevant experience
Foundation Programmes accredited by ISMAUK should follow the syllabus below:
The Foundation Practice Course syllabus consists of 1 core module plus either module 2 or 3 depending on the focus of the programme and the individual’s area of work. In total the programme should comprise no less than 10 hours taught and 10 hours private/study reading.
Notes to guide your choice of module:
The Foundation Practice Certificate certifies that you are able to provide Professional Stress Management Services in one or more of the following categories:
Category A practitioner working in private practice to support individuals and small groups
Category B employee providing support to individuals and small groups
Category C external consultant providing services for organisational development: strategic development and personal development support
Category D employee providing services for organisational development: strategic development and personal development support.
Qualifying Modules:
Applicants wishing to practice in the settings described above should have completed the following Modules or equivalent:
Category A Modules 1 and 3Categories B, C and D Modules 1 and 2
Notes to Trainers:
The following Foundation Practice Certificate Course Syllabus catalogues headings only and each Trainer should expand the content within these. The Trainer must demonstrate that the topics match those within the curriculum and are to the appropriate standard (see ISMAUK Accreditation standards) (Put in link to webpage here)
