Lynch & Zomlefer, SACPLF Supplement: Annotated Species List 2
Annotated List of Vascular Plants
Southern Atlantic Coastal Plain Limestone Forest
A list of 336 vascular plant species vouchered from the SACPLF representing 218 genera
in 98 families is provided below, separated into ferns, gymnosperms and angiosperms and
arranged alphabetically by genus and species. Plant nomenclature follows Weakley (2011),
unless indicated otherwise. Angiosperm family delineation follows APG (2009). Common names
follow Weakley (2011) when available, supplemented by the Plants Database (USDA-NRCS
2015).
Key to the Annotated List
Counties: B = Bleckley; H = Houston; T = Twiggs; † = county record for GA and VSC
Herbaria. L = Lynch collection numbers; Z = Zomlefer collection numbers; s.n. = sine numero
(collection lacks collection number). State status: E = endangered (critically imperiled), T =
threatened (likely to become endangered); federal status: LE = endangered (critically imperiled);
rank: G = global rank, S = state rank; 1 = critically imperiled (very high risk of extirpation), 2 =
imperiled (high risk of extirpation), 3 = vulnerable (moderate risk of extirpation), 4 = apparently
secure, 5 = secure, ? = inexact numeric rank (GA-DNR 2015, USFWS 2015). * = non-native
(exotic) species; invasive status (GA-EPPC 2006): [Cat. 1] = serious problem in Georgia natural
areas; [Cat.2] = moderate problem in Georgia natural areas; [Cat. 3] = minor problem in Georgia
natural areas; [Cat. 4] = not a problem in Georgia natural areas or in need of additional research.
Abundance: c = common (present in large numbers throughout most formally sampled sites in a
variety of habitats); o = occasional (locally common or present in most formally sampled sites
Lynch & Zomlefer, SACPLF Supplement: Annotated Species List 3
but restricted in habitat); i = infrequent (present in only a few formally sampled sites and
restricted in habitat); r = rare (few individuals encountered in only one or two formally sampled
sites and severely restricted in habitat).
