10 Tips on Winning a Scholarship1. Start searching for scholarships as soon as possible. Don't wait until spring of your senior year in high school to start searching, or you'll miss half the deadlines. Continue searching for scholarships even after you are enrolled in college. Consider this like a full time job.2. Answer all of the optional questions on a scholarship matching web site for about twice as many matches.3. Use a free scholarship matching service like Fastweb.com. The Fastweb database is updated daily, and the site will email you notifications of new scholarships that match your personal background profile.4. Look for local scholarships on bulletin boards near the guidance counselor of financial aid offices, or the library's jobs and careers section.5. Apply to every scholarship for which you are eligible. Pursue less competitive scholarships, such as small awards and essay contests, since they are easier to win and the money adds up and helps you win bigger scholarships.6. Don't miss deadlines. Use a calendar and checklist to get organized.7. Tailor your application to the sponsor's goals. Read and follow the instructions carefully.8. If you have difficulty writing essays, try recording yourself as you answer the question out loud, and transcribe the recording later. The AICPA Minority Scholarship awards outstanding minority students to encourage their selection of accounting as a major and their ultimate entry into the profession. American Fire Extinguisher Scholarship Program The AFSA Scholarship Contest is open to high school seniors in the United States who plan to further their education at a college/university or certified trade school in the United States. The scholarship is not based on financial need. Relatives of AFSA staff or board members may not enter. You must be a high school senior during the 2016-2017 school year who will attend a college/university or trade school in the United States starting with the fall 2017 semester.

Requirements: All applicants must read the "Fire Sprinkler Essay" (pdf) or (html) (approximately 3,000 words) about automatic fire sprinklers and take a ten-question multiple-choice test. This is an open-book test and you may print out the paper beforehand for reference during testing. For each question answered correctly, students will receive one (1) entry into a drawing for one of ten $2,000 scholarships. ANS Incoming Freshman Scholarship ANS Incoming Freshman Scholarships are awarded to graduating high-school seniors who have enrolled,full-time, in college courses and are pursuing a degree in nuclear engineering or have the intent to pursue a degree in nuclear engineering. ANS will give a maximum of four Incoming Freshman Scholarships annually. Each award is $1000.

Automotive Hall of Fame ScholarshipThe Automotive Hall of Fame serves as administrator to over $20,000 in combined college scholarships annually. The applicant must indicate a sincere interest in an automotive related career.

The program has specific scholarships for incoming freshmen and upper-level undergraduate students. All of the scholarships are based on financial needs and with the usual minimum GPA requirement of 3.0.

Edison Scholars ProgramOpen NowThe Edison Scholars Program, sponsored by Edison International, is offering aspiring scientists, mathematicians and engineers scholarships to pursue their education at a four-year colleges or universities. Graduating high school seniors who show potential for success in college and have financial need are encouraged to apply for this scholarship. Eligible students must live in or attend a public or private high school in areas serviced by Southern California Edison (SCE) or attend an eligible high school in the designated area surrounding SCE’s San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS).

Empower Scholarship AwardThe EMPOWER Scholarship, administered by Courage Kenny Foundation, encourages and supports ethnically diverse students who are pursuing a career in a medical or rehabilitation field.

The scholarship is made possible by a generous gift from the David M. Hersey Endowment Fund of the Courage Kenny Foundation.

Drs. Jack and Gloria Tuckfield established the Jacki Tuckfield Memorial Graduate Business Scholarship to honor the extraordinary life and achievements of their daughter Jacki. Odenza Marketing Scholarships To be considered eligible for the Odenza Marketing Scholarship you must:

A) Be between the ages of 16 and 25 on March 30, 2014

C) Have at least one full year of post-secondary studies remaining at the time of the award

WyzAnt College Scholarship

For 2014-2015, our annual college scholarships feature $10,000 in total prize money!

Applicants will be required to write an essay in English of no more than 300 words answering the question: “What is the most important lesson you have learned in your life?” The essay must be the sole original work of the Applicant and there may be only one entry per Applicant.

Prior to April 1, 2015, all visitors to WyzAnt’s website will be able to vote on previously submitted essays. Only one vote per essay, per site user is allowed. At the conclusion of this period, the ten essays with the highest total number of votes will be selected for a final round. In addition, ten essays will be selected by WyzAnt staff for the final round. WyzAnt’s decisions are at its sole discretion.

Prior to May 1, 2015, a second round of evaluation will take place during which current WyzAnt tutors will be allowed to vote on the twenty finalists.

At the conclusion of this period, the three Applicants whose essays have secured the highest total votes will be awarded scholarships of $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000 respectively.

Anyone who plans to be enrolled in a four year college or university sometime between August 1, 2015 and November 1, 2015 is encouraged to apply. This includes most high school sophomores through college juniors.
