Venus is the brightest object in the sky after the Sun and the Moon. So, people knew it in prehistoric times. In 1962, scientists designed the spacecraft Mariner 2 to visit Venus. It’s very similar to the Earth. It’s a little bit smaller than the earth. Both the Earth and Venus have some craters on their surfaces. But, it’s not suitable for life because it consists ofcarbon dioxide. There are several clouds of thick sulfuric acid. These clouds cover its surface. This dense atmosphere produces greenhouse effect. So, Venus' surface temperature is so high. It can even melt some metals.
