PUSO's Board Election Platforms 2014-2015 Finance Coordinator Hi everyone! My name is Darnel Lopez and I am a 1 st year undecided/undeclared student. I am running for the Finance Coordinator position for the 2014-2015 school year. Being a part of the intern program and witnessing everything that PUSO did this year has allowed me to fall in love with PUSO even more and makes me want to give back to this organization by being on PUSO Board. Being an intern and a part of the amount of work that goes into putting on the various events that PUSO holds makes me want to be more involved after this year. During the middle part of this year, I was able to shadow the Finance Coordinator for around a quarter and a half. After doing the tasks that the finance coordinator is responsible for, I knew that this is what I wanted to do for next year. If I am chosen to be the Financial Coordinator for the 2014-2015 academic year, I aim to have more than enough money for ordering PUSO apparel and have successful events such as the Pre-Health Conference and Medical Mission Gala. Another goal I want to have is to have enough money for PUSO for emergencies, such as a broken grill for fundraisers, a new canopy, and other club necessities. I want to be a part of the future of PUSO and being on PUSO Board will allow me to grow with the Organization and continue the success of PUSO. Hello PUSO! PUSO's Board Election Platforms 2014-2015Finance Coordinator

Hi everyone! My name is Darnel Lopez and I am a 1st year undecided/undeclared student.

Another goal I want to have is to have enough money for PUSO for

emergencies, such as a broken grill for fundraisers, a new canopy, and other club necessities. I want to be a part of the future of PUSO and being on PUSO Board will allow me to grow with the Organization and continue the success of PUSO.

Hello PUSO! My name is Joseph Tafalla and I am a second year Biological Sciences major. I am running for the Finance Coordinator position for PUSO for the 2014-2015 academic school year. This is my 2nd year on PUSO board starting off as the Underclass Representative last year and the Humanitarian Director this year. In the two years that I have been on board I have learned how much sacrifice, work, effort, and love go into making an organization so successful. I feel I carry the qualities of perseverance, grit, ambition, and self-motivation, which are qualities I feel not only are needed as the Finance Coordinator for PUSO, but also as a regular board member. If elected as the financial coordinator, I plan on expanding PUSO’s financial flexibility for the organization allowing PUSO to have extra funds for new programs. I will also do my best with the fundraising coordinator to create new ideas to obtain revenue for the organization efficiently and effectively. As a board member my goal is to be a strong support system for the general members academically and socially. Lastly, I hope to lead PUSO to greater heights both financially and in general this coming year.

Fundraising Coordinator

Hi everyone! My name is Jen Sebastian and I am a 1st year Pharmaceutical Sciences major. I am running to be the Fundraising Coordinator for the 2014-2015 school year. As an intern this year, I wanted to become a board member in general because I wanted to give back to the organization that has given me so much during my first year – a family. However, I am running for Fundraising Coordinator specifically because fundraising is a key aspect to PUSO, and I wanted to continue bringing funds to the organization so that they can continue providing opportunities for the general members. I want to continue selling PUSO’s famous Spam Musubi while incorporating and implementing cultural fundraisers to present our Filipino culture to the students on campus. I also want general members to contribute their own ideas for new fundraisers. I hope to achieve these goals if I am elected your new Fundraising Coordinator.

High School Outreach Co-Coordinators

"Hello PUSO! My name is Gabby Camacho and I am a 3rd year Biology/Education major. I am running to be an Outreach Coordinator for the 2014-2015 Academic Year. As an intern and an HSO long-term facilitator, I have witnessed the amazing opportunities this club provides for its board and general members, and to be a part of that team would be an honor. I would dedicate time to build on the club’s strengths and help enhance areas that need improvement. I have the passion for helping people, the determination to work through tribulations, and the open mind to help every one feel involved. In regards to High School Outreach, I loved working with the students and encouraging them to explore higher-level education. The Outreach team this year made my experience unforgettable, and I want to help continue that culture and legacy. I have a wide experience of working with students, and with my passion for education, I want to inspire people to build a better future for his

or herself, despite where they come from and their past. As co-outreach coordinator, I will act as a servant-leader towards PUSO, its general members, the team of outreach facilitators, and the students we willmotivate."

Hello everyone!

I’m Amanda Nguyen, a 1st year Pharmaceutical Sciences major, and I’m running to be one of your co-coordinators for PUSO’s High School Outreach program for the 2014-2015 academic year.

As a current intern for PUSO, I have been able to witness PUSO in action during general meetings as well as behind-the-scene work. From this opportunity, I shadowed the current coordinators for HSO. I was able to participate in the program, as well as attend the meetings, where I learned the process of developing the lesson plans for the program.

Being an alumni of an outreach program in my own high school, I fully understand and first-handedly experienced the benefits of being in such a program. Although some of the information can be tedious and uninteresting to many students, I believe the way to the success of the program is to create exciting ways

to guide the students to the beginning of their college path. Granting me the opportunity to be a coordinator will allow me to open the door of awareness and opportunity to not only the PUSO general members, but to the high school students as well.

PUSO's Board Election II Platforms 2014-2015

Co-Publicity

Hey everybody! My name is Darnel Lopez and I am a 1st year undecided/undeclared

student. I am running for one of the two Co-Public Relations Coordinator positions for the 2014-2015 school year. Being a part of the intern program and seeing everything that PUSO does as an organization has allowed me to fall in love with PUSO even more and makes me want to give back to this organization by being on PUSO Board. Being an intern and a part of the amount of work that goes into putting on the various events that PUSO holds makes me want to be more involved after this year.

If I am chosen to be one of the two positions for Co-Public Relations Coordinator for the 2014-2015 academic year, one of my main goals is to be on top of all possible social media sites, such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc., and pub PUSO out in every single way possible. Another goal that I have is to keep updating the website on a regular basis and informing the general

members about all of the events that are coming up for PUSO. I want to be part of the future of PUSO and being on board will allow me to help contribute to the growth of PUSO and continue the amazing success of PUSO.

Hello Puso loves! My name is Paulo Lerma and I’m a 3rd year Biomedical/Mechanical Engineering double major, and I’m

running to be one of your PUSO Public Relation board member for the 2014-2015 school year!PUSO has tremendously impacted my first year here at UCI, from being a

general member to a current intern. I’ve witnessed the hard work, effort and love from the organization. PUSO; the organization, its people and all the things it stands for, made me grow as an individual and I want to be able to share the kindness, love, bond and experience to everyone. Upon becoming an intern, I was exposed to the roots and traditions of PUSO and I vastly fell in love with the organization. Coming to UCI with an altruistic mindset, my main intention was to cater to the public who share similar interests as I do. Through Public Relations, I have the chance to express my feelings, experience, passion and the magnificent colors of PUSO through flyers, banners, public announcements, and so on.

If elected to be PUSO’s PR, I want to be the bridge that establishes and maintains mutually beneficial relationships between an organization and the

public. To strengthen the connections and communications with the public and other organization, not only to increase the general member retention but to convey that PUSO cares and what the organization stands for. I want to continue the success that PUSO holds, an organization that caters to the community and most importantly to convey what OUR PUSO is all about.

Hi, my name is Ronalie Baldovino! I am currently a second year, Pharmaceutical Sciences major, and hopefully your 2014-2015 Public Relations Coordinator of PUSO.

I am running for this position because I want to positively influence others to get involved with PUSO in hopes that they grow to love PUSO as much as I have. I ultimately desire to outreach to as many members as I can, increase general member attendance, and to essentially help PUSO grow as an organization. As an intern this year, I feel that I have gained experiences and developed leadership and interpersonal skills that I would love to put into this position. I also love making posters and social media and feel that it is a great way to reach out to others and inform them of PUSO’s endless opportunities!

Furthermore, I love meeting new people and want to connect all of its members whether it is through Facebook, PUSO Pages, or programs and events. With a positive attitude and love (PUSO), I believe that this position will not only contribute to my personal growth but will also enable PUSO to continue to grow.

Historian

Hello PUSO!            My name is Ryan Jay Abrigo. I am a first year Biological Sciences major and a PUSO intern; I plan to run for the position of historian. Last quarter I interned under our current historian, Kevin Cortes. I enjoyed helping him take pictures while learning about how the PUSO board operated. My experiences in the PUSO internship strengthened my interpersonal skills, built my leadership skills, and offered me a family. Because of this, I’d like to take up a larger role in this organization that has given me so much.            PUSO's internship provided me an exposure to the historian position, so I'm quite familiar with the job's responsibilities. I don’t mind taking photos; it’s actually pretty fun! The role of historian allows me to explore this art form and hobby. As historian, I’d be able to expand my photography skills while simultaneously building my leadership and organizational skills. I’d also be responsible for keeping in touch with alumni. I'll make sure that alumni know what’s going on in PUSO, and that alumni have a “hella” fun time at our events. Lastly, aside from fulfilling my historian duties, I guarantee that I will pour my heart into PUSO!

Hello PUSO! My name’s Julie Perez, and I’m a second year Undecided/Undeclared student currently attending Orange Coast College. I’m running for the historian position because I would like to help capture the future memories with PUSOlove next year and to continue developing my leadership skills. I also want to be the leader and role model for general members that current and past PUSO Boards have been for me and to continue to help spread the PUSOlove. Being a general member these past few years, I have seen how much PUSO has grown and how much more the PUSOlove has been spread. PUSO has helped me from being a shy girl to a person who uses her voice. Being an HSO facilitator last year has helped me improve my leadership skills. I did really well in my photography class last fall and won 2nd place in my division in a photography contest. I care about PUSO, my second family, and the people in it. I believe that I’m a strong, dedicated, committed, determined person, and a good listener. I would like to help improve PUSO as it has improved me.

Medical Mission Coordinator

Hi everyone, my name is Jylannie Caro. I am a 3rd year Pharmaceutical Sciences major here at UCI. I am running for Medical Mission Coordinator of PUSO for this upcoming school year. I am interested in running Medical Mission Coordinator because I love how I have the opportunity to give a member a chance to go on a medical mission. I really love helping others, and it warms my heart to know that there are other people out there, who want to do the same.

For those who do not know, I was also an intern and a board member in one of the sister orgs, Kababayan so I have some experiences and ideas I could share to the newly elected board members. I feel like this sets me apart from others because I know the common challenges and what is expected from me on board. The reason why I chose PUSO is because its purpose in helping guide and support students and I really like that aspect of this club.

Co-Secretaries

Hello loves! My name is Aryanna Chavez, I’m a second year Public Health Policy &

International Studies double major, and I am running to be one of your co-secretaries for the 2014-2015 school year!

PUSO has impacted my life greatly, as I was an intern my first year and now am currently one of the co-outreach coordinators. Through this, I have witnessed how much work, effort, and love the board members put into PUSO, in order to make every event a successful one. My involvement in the organization has fostered my love and appreciation for giving back to the community at large as well as the PUSO community that I have come to know and love as my second family. If elected as one of the secretaries, I will do to everything in my power to help the academic director make PHC a success, as well as use my skills and friendly and positive attitude to make PUSO an even more safe and welcoming environment for those who need to

find their niche here at UCI.

What's up everyone! I believe I am a great for as a co-secretary for PUSO. I have been an active persona in PUSO and have had experience planning big events in Alyansa. With many experiences in the club, I have some interesting ideas I would like to implement such as pusofam events, voIunteer opportunities, Alyansa outreach and Filipin@ awareness. I hope to spread the same joy I have in PUSO to future members.  Peace and love.
