III Cell

The Department of Biotechnology has established an Industry Institute Interaction Cell in the year 2009. The objectives of this cell are:

To receive advice from the industry personnel regarding the skills expected from our graduates.

To discuss modification in the present curriculum that suits to the industry needs.

To receive training for students and faculty members in in-dustrial practices

Department of Biotechnology conducted National Workshop on “Emerging Trends in Molecular and Recombinant DNA Technology” during September 20th and 21st, 2013 which was sponsored by Council for Scientific and Industrial Re-search with Rs. 20,000.

Modern laboratory for Computational Systems Biotechnol-ogy was inaugurated on 9th July 2013 in the Department of Biotechnology at Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Sriperumbudur. Departmental Achievements SVCE signed MoU with Gemini Communications Ltd - Mr. Ram Kumar, CEO Gemini Communications Limited (GCL) Chennai, along with experts from the company visited Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Sriperumbudur (SVCE) on 15th October 2012, to enhance the Industry Institute Interaction. They delivered a series of Special Lectures on   “Ethical Hacking and Computer Forensics”.

IBM and SVCE have signed MoU in the year 2010 and IBM have set-up a Centre of Excellence in IT department Laboratory. Students of circuit branches are being trained in IBM Tools such as DB 2 and have been certified.

S.Sathya Narayanan and R. Santhosh Kumar of III yr IT 'B' (2010-2014) participated and coded for 18 hours in the "Windows AppFest 2012" organized by Microsoft that was held at Karnataka Trade Promotion Organization (KTPO), Bangalore on 21st September. They were part of the Guinness World Records for "Most participants in a Software Development Marathon at one location".

Santhosh Raj.M of II year IT 'B' (2011-2015) presented a paper titled "Fire Fighting Robot" at Vellore Institute of Technology University on 16th September 2012 and has won the second prize.

3. S.Sathya Narayanan of III year IT 'B' (2000-2014) has been selected in Thought Works for Campus Fellowship Program.

4. The Project “A Real-time Driver Fatigue Detection and Alert System based on efficient Eye-tracking “ was approved by the Tamil state council for science and technology with a grant of Rs.6000 on 13th Feb 2012. This project was proposed by the student K.Marimuthu (2008 -2012) B.Tech IT and mentored by Ms.N.Devi AP/IT. It has been exhibited in State level student Projects Seminar cum exhibition at Kamaraj College of Engineering and Technology on 10 -11 August 2012 by the student.

Final year UG Mechanical students carried out 23 in house and 27 industrial projects.

CAD/CAM center was inaugurated on 29/01/2014 and it is effectively conducting 200 Hours software training program spread over three semesters on “Computer Aided Drafting, Modeling and Analysis (CADMA)” to enhance the skill levels of students in the design field and also helps them to meet the industrial requirements and their academic projects.

Along with CTRI – Weston Thomson, department is conducting Six-Sigma green belt certification program for students in order to improve the knowledge and better equip themselves for the industry (already two batches are completed successfully).
