DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE NOTES FROM THE FIELD An oxymoron is defined as “A smart saying which at first view appears foolish.” Some examples might be: cruel-kindness, make haste-slowly, truly-false. An oxymoron causes us to pause, to execute a quick double-take, to think a little deeper to what is expressed. The greatest oxymoron of all time is “God with us.”

At first view, the statement “God with us” seems utterly ridiculous. How can God possibly be with us? We can’t see Him with the naked eye; we can’t touch Him nor even hear Him. Yet, He is undeniably with us. We can see Him, if we know what to look for. We can hear Him, if we truly listen and we can even touch Him; or more precisely, be touched by Him.

“God with us” means what it says. He is with us not in some esoteric, philosophical or mystical way, but in actual reality. This is why; I believe the celebration of Christmas is so important. We focus upon, in a more determined fashion, that God is not only real, but that He defines, in such a striking way, what love is.

In High School science, we learned that when pouring a pure substance from a beaker into a basin containing water, the substance went from a high-concentration to a low-concentration. In a similar way, (without subtracting any of His substance) John, through the inspiration of the Spirit has summed up the nativity so very well; “And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 An oxymoron within an oxymoron; that is, “The Word became flesh.” Vivid imagery that drives home the point that something out of the ordinary has occurred.

The incarnation; “God with us” only appears as an oxymoron because our world finds it difficult to believe that God would reveal Himself in such a vulnerable manner. Gods own son, born to an obscure family without power or prestige in a backwoods town of no great significance. It was a simple birth, to a simple people. May our hearts worship Him this season in simplicity and may our arms extend in love beyond our own. From all the staff here at Eurovangelism, we pray that you will have a blessed Christmas this year as you draw close to our Lord and Savior.

“The first day of school and kindergarten came. We dressed up. We asked the Lord to take care of us…Then, with bouquets of flowers in hand, we headed to school. The most pleased and excited were the little children who by their restlessness and joy, made us remember, with nostalgia, the first day of school. Thank you for being with us and supporting us in one way or another in our activities.”

Vasile Nemes, Lupeni Children’s Home

“I live in Tulca and I am 10km away from the Salonta High School. Every morning, I go to school by bus as our classes start at 8am. At school, I have a lot of friends, classmates and new teachers. At school, we do religion and I’m learning about God. When I leave school, I want to be an accountant. Thank you for the help which you have offered.” Daciana, Student in Romania

“House of Hope is an extraordinary project that involves 24 children. God has been faithful and we have been parents, a family, to these children. We help them go to school, to study and we offer them every support in order for them to have a happy childhood. Thank you for opening your heart to the needs of these precious children.”Mihai Micula, Romania

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” Psalm 32:8 “These past months were among the busiest of our full time ministry! For both of us, this year is marked with major changes in the ministry involvement. I (Mirek) have been invited to the IFES global role to coordinate the Governance development. Ewa has been moving back to where her spiritual gifting truly is – to the ministry of pastoral care and counseling, as well as, mentoring and coaching. We want to be available to serve the students in the best way, the way that brings glory to God and is a blessing to people through the saving power of His Spirit! ” Mirek & Ewa Pieszka, Poland

At the Christian Summer Camp, ‘Pilgrim 2014’, there were 68 children and 32 teenagers. All the activities were connected to the theme verse found in Matthew 19:26 ‘With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.’We also took part in the Project `Word of God to People in Trouble.’ The purpose of the project is rendering spiritual support to those who have suffered in disasters and in hard life situations. Now the situation in Ukraine is very hard. More than 700,000 peaceful people became refugees. Together with Moscow churches, we sent Bibles, Children Bibles and New Testaments to those regions where refugees from Ukraine are staying. Olesya, a refugee from Slavyansk expressed, “Your books became a real treasure for us! Our son was very glad. He can’t read but he looks at the wonderful pictures with great interest! Your ministry gives hope and joy to people and God will never forget it!”

Galina Dzhuzenova, Compassion Ministry, Russia

By maintaining the support of our Partners, Eurovangelism ensures that the recipients of their faithful service continue to receive the help they need. “That out of His glorious, unlimited resources He will give you the mighty inner strength of His Holy Spirit.” Ephesians 3:16 “Thank you for helping us make a small difference. Please continue to pray for the flood victims. The devastation continues and there is so little or no help available. The people feel abandoned. God has used us to shine some light in this dark situation.”

Vera & Danny Kuranji, Serbia

“Dear Prayer Partners,Just a few days ago, we concluded a long and busy week of concentrated and specific service with the help of a great medical and spiritual team from Ireland. Medically speaking, hundreds of children, adults and elderly were consulted and offered free medicine and food. Spiritually speaking, we prayed with each of them and pointed them to the Great Physician, Christ Jesus. We give thanks to God for His help and provision in all that was done towards the healing of many bodies and especially souls! Catalin & Paula Croitor”
