What is a Predicate noun?
A predicate noun is a single noun or a noun phrase that renames the subject of a sentence and follows a form of the verb “to be” or another linking verb.
Main Examples
Mr. Smith is a teacher. ( Mr. Smith is the subject and teacher is the predicate noun.)Mrs. Smith will be governor (Mrs. Smith is the subject and the predicate noun is governor)
How to find a PredicateNoun.
1.Identify the subject in the sentence
2.Identify the verb of the sentence
3.Find the predicate nominative by locating the noun that comes after the linking verb.
