Place the ES 20/20 facing the ball and golfer. The ball should be placed 11-17 inches in front of the ES 20/20 just off the back foot of the unit.
The ball recognition zone is 6x8 inches, so there is no need to get it perfect. Simply roll the ball into place, and the light will change colors when it is ready.

Once the device has been powered on, the current club selection will be shown on the display. You can change the club selection using the left/right buttons on the top front of the ES 20/20 or using the app (see page 19).
Club selection is not needed for the unit to function, but it is necessary for proper data storage

ERNEST SPORTS APP
The ES2020 uses a Bluetooth connection to send shot data to the app. This will require you to go into the Bluetooth settings on your smart device.

From the Windows Store search Ernest Sports to locate the correct app. Follow the link to the store page, and select Get the app. After installation, there will be a shortcut in the All Apps tab under the Windows start menu.

Windows Pairing
On initial launch of the app, Windows will ask if Ernest Sports can access your ES 20/20. Click Yes.
On your Windows device, go to the Windows Icon. Select Settings, Devices, and Bluetooth. Turn Bluetooth On. Scan for devices. Once found, select ES2020 and Pair. The device will show connected at first, then show paired after the connection is completed. The ES2020 will connect as needed after this.

Home Screen
Quick Start - Select this option if you do not need the data to be saved. This is a good option to use for a demo of the device.
Active User - Select this option if the current user already has a profile.
Create New User - Enter a name, email, and user name, then click Create User to get started with a new range session.

On the left edge of the app are icons that allow movement between the main sections:

Clicking on the icon in the top left corner with 3 parallel lines expands the navigation bar to show names along with the icons.
NOTE: You do not have to expand the bar to use the navigation menu.

Connecting Bluetooth in the App
Click the connection icon (chain links) in the upper right corner of the screen. A window listing paired Ernest Sports devices will appear below the connection icon. If ES2020 is not an option, click REFRESH at the bottom of the window.
NOTE: If the device is still missing from the list, check the Bluetooth pairing in the Windows settings.
Select the device and click CONNECT to the right of the device. When connection is complete, a confirmation will appear, and the connection icon will turn green. The app is now ready to receive swing data.

Tile View
From the left side of the screen select the Tile View icon.
This view shows all of the data without the distraction of the ball path display.
This view is ideal for outdoor use because it is much easier to see with the glare of the sun.
It is also good to use when students are getting distracted by the ball path display during a lesson or club fitting.

Chip & Putt Mode
Chip and putt modes are intended for use with simulation software. Please refer to simulation software documentation for details about how the software is used.
Chipping is notated by CHP on the top LCD, and putting is notated as PTT on the top LCD.
Note: Chipping and putting are not intended for the use with the ES Golf app.

To begin a new session, name your range session and select Start Session.
To join a previous session, select an existing session from the list and click Join Session.

Scroll through the list and select the club you would like to use. That club will then appear on the ES 20/20.
Appropriate club selection is needed for storing accurate club statistics.

Under Location, select the course you would like to view.
Under Distance to Hole, use the slider to select distance to the pin. Then select Set Distance.
Under Rotation, the target line can be aimed to the left or right.

Compare Feature
This feature can be used to compare any different equipment; including, but not limited to, clubs, shafts, balls, swing style, or any other golf equipment.
Up to four items can be compared at a time, and they are color coded on the main screen, raw data screen, and comparison screens.
This can be turned on/off from the drop-down on the main screen. The Item names can also be changed from the drop-down as well.

FIRMWARE UPDATE

There are two types of firmware on the ES 20/20. Each can be updated independent of each other.
The first firmware is called the Version, displayed as VER on the LCD of the ES 20/20. This version number is also displayed in the bottom right corner of the app.
The second is called the SoM, displayed as SoM on the LCD of the ES 20/20.
For best results, both should be kept up to date.

Version Firmware Update
The version firmware can be updated through the app.
In the connections menu (notated by the chain links icon) located in the top right corner, an UPDATE FIRMWARE button appears if one is available.
If this button is visible, an update is available for download.
To update, click UPDATE FIRMWARE, and the app will update via Bluetooth.
The device will power off after it is complete. Power the device back on and reconnect to the app.

SoM Firmware UpdateDownload the latest SoM firmware from Ernest Sports. Pay attention to where the file is saved so it can be moved.
Copy and paste the file *.img on to your Ernest Sports USB Drive that was included with the ES 20/20. Another USB Drive can be used, but it needs to be at least 8GB and have the FAT32 format.
Power on the ES 20/20. Plug the USB Drive into the back of the unit. Press the programming button on the top of the unit, and scroll to the right to find UPD.
Once on UPD, press the programming button again. The letters UPD will flash for approximately 90 seconds, and the device will power off.
Power the device back up an reconnect the Bluetooth.

Replacing the Battery

The battery can be recharged internally from the charging port on the back.
There are two indicator lights on the back of the unit.
The yellow light indicates that the external power is plugged in.
The red light indicates that the battery is charging. When the red light turns off, the unit is fully charged.

The ES2020 is warrantied for twelve (12) months against any manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship, and for all parts and labor. The warranty applies only to the original purchaser of this product. Warranty work may be completed only by Ernest Sports. If the device is not found to be defective, no warranty work will be performed.
This warranty does not cover damage that is the result of modifications of the product, misuse, abuse, neglect, negligence, vandalism, accident, or abnormal conditions, including but not limited to war, flood, fire, wind or damage caused by occurrences over which Ernest Sports has no control.
