. Yin yoga targets the connective tissues, bones, joints and meridian paths of the body through deep stretches and healthy, moderate compression. Most yin postures are prolonged holds while seated, prone or supine. Yin yoga complements athletics, running, biking, flow yoga and other exercise that focuses on muscular strength and stamina. Yin has a meditative component that trains you to clear your mind. Robin Ivy Payton trained with Sacred Seeds Yoga School for her RYT 200 and followed with advanced studies of Functional Anatomy and Therapeutic Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, and Yoga Nidra & Meditation with Lotus Pond in Tampa, Florida and with Pranakriya School of Yoga and Healing Arts.

Are you seeing results? Why do you exercise? If you feel like your workout routine has gotten into a rut, it probably has. Maybe you’ve been doing the same thing over and over for the past month and you don’t feel like you’ve accomplished much. Asking yourself these questions may help you get back on track by revisiting why you exercise and what you hope to gain from your routine. It’s easy to fail without a clear picture of where you want to be. One might say you’ve lost your motivation. Sometimes your motivation changes without you realizing it and asking the right questions may help you find that motivation again.

To reignite the motivation inside you, ask yourself these questions:

Why do I exercise and eat healthy?

What has been my biggest accomplishment in regards to my health?

What do I like about my exercise routine?

What do I dislike?

What habits do I want to create to improve my health?

What habits do I want to lose because they are bad for my

health?

Once you have some answers, taking some extra steps to keep you motivated might be all you need to have fun and see results.

1. Set new goals and revisit often.

2. Reward yourself with something big.

3. Chart your progress and continue to refer back to the chart. Weight, calories burned, distance traveled, # of days of exercise per week

4. Set little goals to achieve; a little goes a long way.

Walk/run extra half mile each week, get more active during the day (stairs, walks at lunch, and chores around the house), eat more servings of fruit and veggies, and drink less sugary drinks

5. Change your exercise routine Take a new class, take your workout outside or have a trainer change your strength routine

6. Train for an event such as a road race, triathlon, or obstacle course.

7. Find a workout buddy. Keep a journal to see how you’ve handled challenges such as stress, work interferences etc. Continue to return to this to remind yourself of your successes.

Susan Ahlers has worked with a wide variety of clients with many different goals and abilities. She coaches her clients about finding what motivates them and how they can create a plan to see results. Her passion is to help an individual realize their true potential for reaching their health and wellness goals and watching them gain the self-confidence they need to achieve anything. If you are interested in a free ½ hour consultation or to schedule an appointment, please contact her at 749-9442 or at [email protected].
