Becky and Mike serve among the hill tribes of northern Thailand. Mike is the director of the Integrated Tribal Development Program (ITDP) and also helps ministries around the world develop water and agricul- tural projects in his role as global consultant for rural development. Becky is helping ITDP coordinate work teams from overseas, with the coffee project and Lanna Cafe, and also working with parents of spe- cial needs children. She is helping the Integrated Tribal Development Program with marketing Thai coffee and working with parents of special needs children. Until five years ago, they lived with their parents in a small hut. Their daily chores included working in the rice field, and never a thought that one day they’d be going to school. When the parents heard about the Ma Oh Jo school, they were eager to send the children because they knew that their children would be well taken care of and fed every day, and that this might give them a brighter future. was tragically killed by wild elephants. The children returned to school still traumatized by his death. When they returned home the following sum-mer, they found the hut empty. Their mother had remarried and moved to her new husband’s village, which was several hours away. With nowhere to go, the children stayed through the summer months, taking care of each other with little

help from distant relatives. They came back to school a week before the school year began. The teachers and hostel parents immediately saw how thin and hungry the siblings were and took them in, feeding them and loving them to the fullest. It is a great joy to be able to minis-ter to these children through ITDP!
