Sarah Yanciw

Invented by former hairstylist Maurice Ward. In the result of some inform tinkering, Ward may have created one of the worlds greatest plastics. Radically innovative this plastic could have simply made everyday life easier and safer. revolutionizing a multitude of industries. This plastic could withstand the power of a nuclear blast, survive temperatures hotter than the sun, and protect an egg from the heat of a blow torch. Not only did it do all that but it cooled itself after contact with high temperatures.

What is starlite?

Ward had never filled a patent for the material because he didn't want it revealed. Some say Ward didn't want to be cheated in licensing deals or that he demanded a majority share of all profits. Starlite has been tested from Boeing to NASA to the BBC science.

The controversy

Starlite has existed since 1986 and to date has not been licensed or commercialized. It was said in 1997 the product was seized by the government agencies and classified.

Ward was looking for a suitable project for the plastic, he had offered it up to the BP to help clean up the massive Gulf of Mexico oil spill. His invention was more so intended for help of prevention of environmental disasters, which the governments intentions was not heading towards.

The intentions

Unfortunately Maurice Ward had died in 2011, and he may very well have taken initiate knowledge of his astounding invention and it's fate to his grave with him.

The outcome

Common everyday materials: http://www.nma.org/index.php/minerals-publications/40-common-minerals-and-their-uses Asbestos- This mineral can be strung into thin, strong fibers that are

flexible, heat resistant, and chemically inert, thus making asbestos minerals suitable for use in fireproof fabrics, yarn, cloth, paper, paint filler, gaskets, roofing composition, reinforcing agent in rubber and plastics, brake linings, tiles, electrical and heat insulation, cement, and chemical filters.

Silver- Uses include photography, chemistry, jewelry, electronics, as currency, alloys, chemical reaction vessels, water distillation, a catalyst in manufacture of ethylene, mirrors, electric conductors, batteries, plating, table cutlery, dental, medical, and scientific equipment, electrical contacts, bearing metal, magnet windings and solder.

Copper- Used in building construction, electric cables and wires, switches, plumbing, heating; roofing and; chemical and pharmaceutical machinery. More recently copper is being used in medical equipment due to its anti-microbial properties.

Identify common materials and their uses, and describe how everyday life has changed over the past 100 years with the development of new materials

Science has changed the life of human race rapidly in the past 100 years. Essentially on technology. Example would be the refrigerator, maintaining health and satisfactory since its invention. Automobiles has transformed society and the life functions of us humans. As well as advancing physics, engineering and mathematics. Research in food technology has created new ways of preserving and flavoring what we eat. Industrial chemistry has created a vast range of plastics and other synthetic materials, which have thousands of uses in the home and in industry. Synthetic materials are easily formed into complex shapes and can be used to make machines, electrical, and automotive parts, scientific, technical and industrial instruments, decorative objects, containers, packing materials and many other items.

The use of science in daily life has helped us a good deal in solving problems, dealing with the maintenance of health, production and preservation of food, construction of houses and providing communication and facilities.

Science has changed the people and their living, life style, food habits, sleeping arrangements, earning methods, the way of communication between people and recreational activities. All kinds of music systems, computer games, electronic video games, DVDs, cinema entertainment and communication have been brought to our door with the help of Science

Science has adequately, energetically and productively advanced, changed, civilized, enhanced and progressed human life.
