Scripture Reflection “You shall not covet” is a difficult commandment to keep in our consumer society. But as Christian stewards, we know that we are the recipients and caretakers of God’s many gifts. May this realiza-tion that all is gift help us be less resentful of the gifts of others. Living Stewardship We are grateful this week for all stewards in our par-ish who make a conscious effort to simplify their lives by reprioritizing and getting back to basics.

ROSARY ALTAR SOCIETY News…

The Rosary Altar Society

will meet on

Thursday, March 8th

at 7 PM

in the Parish Center’s Cafeteria.

All women of the parish are

invited to join us.

You are invited to be part of the environment for next

week, Laetare Sunday, and wear rose/pink ties, shirts, blouses, sweaters, scarves, etc. Rose-colored vestments are first mentioned in the sixteenth centu-ry and may have originated with a papal custom of the time. We associate the rose color with joy in

Advent and Lent. In the earliest days of the Church, the fast was quite strict, and people could see the

end of Lent approaching. Both then and today spring is approaching in the northern hemisphere, and

winter is ending. Throughout the world we are close to celebrating our greatest truth, the Paschal

Mystery. This is reason enough for joy!

The Church begins the holy season of Lent.

Each year Lent offers us the occasion to grow in our relationship with God; Father, Son and Spirit and, especially for you in a Jesuit apostolate, an opportunity to deepen your commitment to discerning God’s will.

These next forty days provide us with the time to reflect upon our actions, to pray more devot-edly, to seek forgiveness and reconciliation for “what we have done and what we have failed to do”, and to be generous and deliberate in our service to others, especially the poor and those most in need. Below, the Society of Jesus offers you some great and varied resources (these are just a few) to assist your prayer and discernment during this beautiful season. We hope that they are helpful to you. Please know that you and your discernment remain in the prayers of the Jesuits.

May God grant us abundant grace and peace this Lent!

The Word: Scripture Reflections http://scripturereflections.podbean.com/ Throughout Lent, we will supplement our weekly Scripture reflection podcast with daily reflections from scriptural scholar Elizabeth Kirkland Cahill. Each re-flection will focus on the Psalm from that day's Mass. These five-minute audio reflections will include ques-tions to help guide your personal prayer. Subscribe to "The Word" today and add these reflections to your daily Lenten routine.

The Examen with Fr. James Martin, S.J. https://www.americamagazine.org/section/examen The examen is a centuries-old prayer practice that helps you find God in your daily life. Our podcast is based on a technique that St. Ignatius Loyola outlined in the Spiritual Exercises, his classic manual for pray-er. Each week Father Martin will provide you with a new reflection and guide you through the examen prayer. Subscribe today to start praying the examen each and every day.
