Anand Sureka, son of Late Sri Sitaram Sureka, is B.COM (HONS) from St.Xavier’s College, Kolkata and was in the merit list of Calcutta

University in 1984.

He is a Fellow member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and The Institute of Cost Accountants of India.

He is an active member of organisations like Direct Tax Profesisonal Association and Infrastrcture Committe of CII.

He is married to Jyoti Sureka, and is blessed with two sons, Aakash & Aayush.

Anand’s hobbies are gardening, drawing, singing, travelling, and reading.

He has been an active Rotarian and served as a President in the 100th Year of Rotary in 2004-05. He was instrumental in setting up of Mahanagar Peace Park, and Rotary Mahanagar Netrayala.

Originally, Anand was engaged in transportation and Manufacturing of Bitumen and Bituminous Products, and subsequently diversied into the eld of Highway Constructions in 2000.

Since the year 2000, Anand is engaged in the eld of infrastructure developments in the states of West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Sikkim and has completed a number of infrastructure projects in varied elds, namely Highway Constructions, High Rise Buildings, Sewarage & Drainage System, Multi Level Car Parkings, RCC & Steel Bridges. Some of his major endeavours have been - specialised constructions like Open Air Theatre and Revolving Biswa Bangla Globe. He is a director of his company Adhunik Infrastructures Pvt. Ltd, which is a family business supported by his two brothers, Chandra Kr. Sureka and Sanjay Sureka.

Recently, he has completed ‘The Dakshineshwar Skywalk ’, the pet project of West Bengal government, connecting Railway Station to the Dakshineswar Kali Temple. The user friendly Skywalk project stretches for about 400 metres and brings to the city pride and comfort.

H a p p y t o i n f o r m y o u t h a t Mahanagar’s, 3 grants totalling 1.50 crores have been approved. In the next 10 days our club should receive 1.50 crores in our banks.Happy to inform, that today itself the rst of these three grants' payment has been received by the club. Rs. 44 lacs has been received by us for the 10 Happy Schools project.

Guests Arnab Kumar Dutta and Soumyajit Roy from Motilal Oswal had come for the RWM. They shared their interpretation of the past and present equity, debt and other investment market with their opinion and perspective of the future. The session was very interesting and interactive, interspersed with perpetual questions from the members. Members were enthusiastic and inquisitive of the trends in the markets, wanting to know what factors truly impacted the market. Our guests from Motilal Oswal smartly could take majority of the questions spearing through the session. They also hinted at PMS as a better investment strategy.

On the 21st of October, Mahanagar carried out a Blood Grouping Camp at “Narkeldanga Youth Organisation” Kolkata, where 39 SOS Donors were registered.

On the 12th of November Mahanagar carried out a Blood Grouping Camp and registered 18 SOS donors for our Bloodline. The camp was conducted at “Khoreberia Udayan Sangha”, Bishnupur Diamond Harbour Road, South 24 parganas

A very proud moment for Mahanagar to have received this note of thanks from the family member, of the recipient of blood.

This is a big thank you note from the family of the blood recipient, coming via me, who went through a huge open heart surgery at Apollo Hospital today.

It is just by chance that your name came to my mind to seek your help & in turn you rightly connected me to Mr. Laskar, truly dedicated to the cause, for further coordination. It took midnight to coordinate & x the things as time was too short & requirement has fallen on festive days. Still Laskar followed up & could x it by midnight. My bow to this seless service, to the man & to the organization behind this.

All of you are making a difference in someone else’s life mostly not knowing them even.

Kudos to all of you and others who have rolled up their sleeve to give blood, platelets or plasma and made a life-changing difference for someone you probably don’t know. That is what the business of saving lives is about. It is really great to see you people making a team and accepting the challenge of saving lives while making transfusion possible. Being heartbroken cannot be a donor, but if there is anyway, I can be of assistance please let me know. EYE SIGHT

7 Cataract surgeries took place on the 4th of October, 4 surgeries on 5th October and 3 surgeries on the 31st of October. Patients from NGO Uttar Howrah Seva samity underwent surgeries with Intra Ocular lens at our H.C.Garg Memorial Hospital.

During the month of October 2018 a total of 125 patients were treated free in our homeopathy clinic “Shree Ramkumar Memorial H o m e o p a t h i c C h a r i t a b l e Dispensary”, Rabindra Sarani, Kolkata.

³ President Chitra Agarwal called the meeting to order.

³ National anthem was led by Club Editor Nisha Padia.

³ President Chitra Agarwal welcomed the members, spouses and guest speakers Mr. Arnab Kumar Dutta & Mr. Soumyajiit Roy to the meeting.

³ President informed members regarding the projects and events of the club during the last week.

³ Club Secretary conducted club business.

³ The minutes of 1217 RWM was put before the house and conrmed by Rtn. Bijay Kumar Dokania.

³ The forthcoming club events were announced by the Secretary:

Rotary club of Calcutta Mahanagar was one of the lead Joint co-hosts of the District 3291-Bijoya- Deepawali District fellowship meet "Swarnali Sandhya- A Golden Evening "on 11th November 2018 at Nicco park.

The event was formally inaugurated by District Governor 3291 Mukul Sinha and all the clubs who were Joint Co hosts were felicitated which included, our President Chitra Agarwal who was handed a "Appreciation Certicate ".

This meet was a colourful evening of entertaining musical soirée with sumptuous food and around 950 Rotarians and their spouses attended the event, which included many PDG's like Uttam Ganguli, Rajani Mukherjee, Shyamashree Sen, Utpal Chatterjee, Pinaki Ganguli, Jhulan Basu and many more. DG elect Ajay Agarwal and DGN were also in attendance.

Mahanagar members who attended were President Chitra Agarwal, Rtn Sandeep Shah with Spouse Bhawna Shah.
