2. APAC19 & 2017 SAECCE
The Third Business Startu—A CustomerOriented and Product & Service Based WayBy Mr. Liu Bo, Vice President, ChanganAutomobile Group
Roads Toward Vision Zero of ICV AgeBy Mr. Qi Ping, Head of Engineering Center, ZF (China) Investment Co., Ltd.
Opportunities and Challenges ofAutomated DrivingBy Dr. Chen Liming, President, ChassisSystems Control China, Bosch
The Future of the Car and Urban MobilityBy Dr. V. Sumantran, Chairman, CelerisTechnologies
User-orientation is significant in themaking of new industry roles. Changanis working hard for its third businessstartup with four transformations tobecome a Sci&Tech OEM focusingmore on brand and users with its ICV aswell as services and mobility solutions.Changan believes that it is fundamentalfor OEMs to upgrade their vehiclesaccording to the users' needs. By2025, Changan hopes to be world's top10, achieving an annual sales of 6million vehicles, of which 3.5 millionare Changan brand.
Electrification, Automation, Connectivity and Multimodality Made in China 2025 offers an accessibleimplementation plan for automated drivingthat requires the legislative support from theChinese government. Chinese users are morelikely to accept the functions of automateddriving compared with the US and Germanusers. With key technologies in the aspects ofsense, think and act, automated drivingsystem is the most complicated one in autoindustry, and it alone can meet L3-L5requirements.
Free accidents and free emission;autonomous driving and E-mobility.Scenario based sensor set: 3D Solid StateLidar FPS Imaging Radar, Video Tag, 3DSolid State Lidar Low FPS ImagingRadar;THINK faster: Nvidia Driver PX2; ZFProAl Gen 1, up to L2 AD and ADASfeatures Q3 2019 SOP HW; ZF ProAl Gen2 up to L4 AD and ADAS Features Q32020 SOP HW;ACT in a safer way: ZF develops alltechnology areas for safety andautonomous driving.
Impact of Cities: 1% of Land Area holds 55%of population, has 85% of GDP, uses 78% ofenergy, and causes 60% of CO2 emissions. Therefore, cites need better mobility.CO2 emission is still high in the world, andsustainability is an important theme in autoindustry.Car-ownership is losing its appeal, as cars areparked for 90% of its time. The mobilitymodel for tomorrow: electrified, shared, andconnected & intelligent.Car-makers and cities should work as partnersand transform urban mobility together.
High-level Event: Keynote Speeches
【Moderator】
Dr. Li Jun, Academician of CAE, Chief Engineer, China FAW Group CorporationMr. Paul Mascarenas, 2014-2016 President of FISITA, Special Venture Partner of
Fontinalis PartnersMr. Tan Minqiang, President of Dongfeng Motor Corporation Technical CenterDr. Wang Qiujing, President, GAC Automotive Engineering InstituteDr. Masao Nagai, President, Japan Automobile Research Institute (JARI)
【Panelists】
Prof. Frank Zhao, President of Tsinghua Automotive Strategy Research Institute (TASRI), 2018-2020 President of FISITA
【Viewpoints】
Future cars: consumers favor efficient, safe and green carsThe panelists agree that future cars will have great opportunities andinnovative business models in electrification, intelligence, connectivityand sharing. OEMs need to produce products that meet consumers'shared needs and personalized tastes. The technologies to realize electrification and intelligence will bepromoted gradually, and the realization of connectivity needs thecoordination of standards and transportation. The challenges for futurecars include carbon emissions and urbanization.
Future cars and transportation are integratedAs a terminal and link of transportation, cars are provided as a service.Mobility, intelligence, transportation, connectivity and sharing will beintegrated to become smart terminal. Automobile engineers have theresponsibility to solve technology and product problems, and to call foran atmosphere where the entire transportation industry and automotiveindustry are coordinated together.
High-level Panel Discussion: Creating the Automobiles and Mobility for the Future
The academician forum invited the experts from the field of strategy, policy, standard, hydrogen, natural gas, grid and auto lightweight toshare their ideas with traditional automobile energy experts. The researches of top experts are closely integrated, and new developmentopportunities are created through the platform of SAE-China's annual congress. For example, the academicians in the field of hydrogen fuelshared their opinion of the conflict between the state grid project and the by-product hydrogen and wind curtailment. This conflict willdirectly affect the future development of EV and FCV. The academicians in the material field pointed out that the material technology canhelp improve the capacity of hydrogen storage by 30%.
【Theme: Auto Power and Low Carbon Development】
China has entered a new stage, which has created a good environment forbuilding an auto power. New energy, intelligence and connectivity will bringnew change to the auto industry and promote the transformation and upgradingof China's manufacturing industry.
