Quality Control'Officer , TO: Christopher Corbett (3HW24) For your convenience, included in the report for Keystone Sanitation (REQ96039) are tables which present each sample result on both a wet weight and a dry weight basis. The inorganic conversion table is given on pages "Inorganic Bl through B9" and the organic conversion table is "Organic El through E14." The tables show the measured value (the dry column for metals and the wet column for all other tests) and the value calculated from the .appropriate percent dry weight (60°C for metals and 105°C for all other tests). In this first version, a fixed number of significant figures has been used for the calculated values; this is not. intended to imply that the calculated values are more precise than the measured values. Several calculated numbers were truncated to zero; I have hand corrected them.     PERCENT DRY WEIGHT DETERMINATIONS

    The soil samples from Keystone Sanitation (Batch ID # REQ96039) were analyzedfor Percent Dry Weight as required by EPA analytical methods. The sampleswere dried at 105°C following the procedure outlined in EPA Region III CentralRegional Laboratory's SOP #R3QA056.0.

    These results are to be used to convert analyte concentrations to a dry weightbasis for organic and non-metal analyses. Normally, analytical values arereported on a wet weight basis for organics and non-metals. All metalsreported use a 60°C drying temperature for the percent dry weightdeterminations, as required by the methodology. The 60°C percent dry weightvalues are reported with the metals results, if applicable.

    Weighing dishes used for these samples were sequentially numbered, oven-driedovernight at 105°C, and then cooled in a desiccator before the empty dishweight was recorded. Five to ten grams of each sample was then placed on anempty dish and the total weight recorded. The samples were then placed in anoven and oven-dried overnight at 105°C. When the samples were removed fromthe oven they were cooled in a. desiccator before their weight was recorded forthe determination of percent dry weight. All weights were recorded after allappropriate calibration checks were completed on the balance using Class Sweights.
