October Ladies Night
“All Dolled Up”
Twenty-four ladies were given a treat when
Jeanne Loch came to share her collection of
Beyer’s Carolers dolls and gave us the story
behind the acquirement of each doll. Her stories were fasci-
nating. We learned how these dolls were started and how they
are constructed—with a wire coat hanger, tissue paper for the
body, and little clothes that are pinned on with straight pins—
no sewing involved. The craftsmanship is quite unbelievable
when you know these facts. Attendees were encouraged to
bring along their favorite doll or their favorite doll story. We
saw a wide variety of dolls and heard some heartfelt stories.
We had a Shirley Temple doll, very cute baby dolls, a set of
antique Jack and Jill dolls, and a “scary” doll hat has to be put
in the garage when the grandchildren come!
Heartland Lutheran High School is having an

speaker. A catered meal and a $5,000 matching gift
opportunity will also be provided. Tickets are on sale

-up!). And finally, thank you to Frank Hal-
ler who helped peel and chop pounds and
pounds of vegetables, Kevin Hoins, who
helped roll the meat, and Bill Novak, who
made several trips to the store to pick up
things we forgot! We could not have done

DID YOU KNOW
“HONEY” NEVER spoils?
It is one of God’s perfect foods. If your honey has crystallized, you can make it smooth and golden once again. Simply heat a pan of water with low heat. Remove the pan from the stove, be sure the jar lid is off and place the jar in the heated pan. Microwaving over-heats the honey and doesn’t heat evenly, so that’s not recom-mended unless you are in a hurry. Hon-ey will crystallize in the hive if the tem-perature goes below 50ºF (10ºC), and honey will crystallize in your containers if you have a cold cup-board also w/honey no refrigeration required!
