Nestling in the South Gloucestershire countryside, Westerleigh offers a peaceful and rural choice for people in Bristol and it’s surrounding area, The buildings incorporate many natural stone and timber features and the peaceful Garden of Remembrance is open throughout the year. The grounds have been arranged to offer areas of formal design, alongside areas of unspoilt natural beauty and every effort has been made to create a tranquil atmosphere in which to remember a loved one.

Privately owned Westerleigh Crematorium aims to provide an exemplary level of service.

We are pleased to offer two chapels. Our Waterside Chapel accommodates 100 people comfortably and is open and light with windows along either side looking out over the mature pond.

The Woodland Chapel which opened in Spring 2016 is smaller and more intimate seating 50 people and sits alongside our new Hospitality Suite and Café.

Both of our chapels feature a state-of the-art downloadable music system which means we are able to play any piece of music which has been commercially recorded and released. With prior notice, the service may also be broadcast or “webcast” via a secure internet link for family or friends who are unable to attend and this same facility also enables audio CD or visual DVD recordings of the service to be produced.

In addition to these facilities we can offer photographic montages displayed on widescreen TV’s at the front of

each chapel and we have resident organists who will play traditional music on request.

We are here to help and are always available to speak to you or your funeral director to ensure that everything is ready and in place.

We allow up to 45 minutes for each service to ensure that the family have enough time to hold a personal, dignified event. Additional time can be booked if required.

The type of funeral service and the manner in which it is conducted are a matter of personal choice and our chapels have been designed to cater for people of all beliefs and faiths.

Our new hospitality suite houses three function rooms catering for 20 to 125 people and can be booked in advance for pre-service receptions, post service receptions and formal wakes.

The Willow Tree Café is open to the public for light refreshments and lunches.

Mini GravesA small upright headstone and kerb set provides a distinctive memorial to mark the ashes burial plot of your loved one.

These traditional memorials measure approx 2’ (60cm) overall and mark the burial of ashes in a private grave. Each design is available in a range of granites and can be made to accommodate one or two vases for displaying cut flowers.

The area in front of the headstone can be filled with coloured chippings or finished with soil for planting. A co-ordinating granite slab can be provided as an alternative.

Cremation TabletsAn exclusive ashes burial plot together with a traditional engraved granite memorial. Inscriptions can be enhanced with motifs, insignia and photographs.

A simple, elegantly designed, low maintenance, granite tablet designed to mark the burial of ashes within a garden of remembrance. Designed to fit a standard 2ft (60cm) x 2ft (60cm) concrete foundation.

These cremation tablets can be made to hold 1 or 2 integral vases, if required. Available in a full range of colours.

Granite BenchesA long lasting, maintenance free alternative to the traditional wooden bench.

The dedication of a bench has been a popular way of remembering a loved one’s life for many generations. The introduction of a range of granite seats and benches provides a long lasting, maintenance free alternative to wood. They are available in a range of colours and can be engraved with a dedication or emblem. Available in the full range of granites unless otherwise stated.

Above Ground VaultsUnlike other traditional memorials these secure granite vaults hold the ashes urn above ground making them particularly suitable for shorter term leases.

These vaults consist of a granite sanctum (AG01) and an above ground mini grave (AG02) that can each hold up to 4 sets of ashes. The vase, bench, birdbaths and sun dial are all designed to hold a single set of ashes. Available in the full range of granites unless otherwise stated.

Garden MemorialsA range of hand carved memorials that are ideal to place within communal gardens. These memorials are also often used to mark the ashes burial plot within a private space.

Available in all granite colours, they can also be made in Italian white marble but it is important to note that marble will stain and weather over time.

Bird Baths and SundialsSpecial positions can be found in the garden for these individual memorials.

This range of bird baths and sundials reflects a more contemporary collection of memorials. Granite, black marble and sandstone have been used to create a varied and interesting range. Ashes may be buried or scattered beneath the memorial. BB04 and SD02 can accommodate up to 2 sets of ashes securely within the pedestal.

Vases and KerbsVases are a classic maintenance free, granite memorial for displaying cut flowers. Ideal to place within the communal gardens. These memorials may also be used to mark the ashes burial plot within a private space.Available in all of the granite colours. V01, V02 and V03 are also available in marble. The kerb usually lines a path, inscribed with a dedication to your loved one.

It is important to note that marble will stain and weather over time.

Classic Garden RangeThese small memorials are designed in the style of classic and contemporary headstones and ideally suited for the dedication of a loved ones ashes alongside a tree, rose or in a communal or family garden.

Natural StonesA range of smaller granite memorials, including vases for displaying cut flowers, are designed for placing alongside a tree, rose or in a family garden or as an alternative to the traditional plaque. They may also be used to mark the ashes burial plot with a private space.

Personalising your Granite MemorialAll of our granite memorials may be personalised to suit your requirements and personal tastes.

For example, you may choose a mini grave from the available options and decide to have an additional flower vase added, or the position of the vase may be changed from the corner to the centre. Alternatively you may wish to remove the vase completely.

For the majority of memorials you will be asked to choose a font style for your dedication inscription. Shown here is a very small example of the fonts available to you. A large selection will be shown to you when choosing a memorial.

You will also be asked to choose a colour for the font. This will usually be gold, silver, white or black and will depend largely on the colour of the granite you have chosen.

For that extra personal touch you can add a photograph of your loved one to their memorial. This may be done by a photo-plaque. The photo-plaques are available in a range of sizes to suit all of our granite memorial options. The photograph may be in full colour or monochrome black and white. You may also decide to have a frame around your plaque with a choice of designs and colours to suit all tastes.

You may also add a design to your memorial which will be etched into the granite. There are a wide range of sample designs to choose from available at the crematorium. Alternatively you may have a design of your own that you would like incorporated.

Material Sample GuideThis guide provides an indication of the colour and shading of the various granites. However, it is important to remember that all materials are naturally formed and may differ slightly in texture or colour from the examples shown. Please speak to one of our advisors if you have any particular enquiries.

Family GardensFamily gardens are dedicated to one family. Each garden is individually planted and provides a distinct, private area for you to visit and tend. Each surrounded by granite setts and marked with a dedication plaque.

Cremated remains of loved ones may be scattered or interred with the memorial, dependant on the tenure period.

Communal Shrub BedsShrubs and bushes provide a traditional form of remembrance. They have been arranged in communal beds into which dedication plaques may be placed. Cremated remains of loved ones may be scattered nearby.

TreesA variety of trees have been planted in our gardens to provide a living, natural memorial. Each surrounded by granite setts and marked with a dedication plaque. Cremated remains of loved ones may be scattered or interred with the memorial, dependant on the tenure period.

Personalising your Living MemorialEach of the living memorials have a dedication plaque included within the price. However it is possible for you to personalise your chosen memorial with a range of granite boulders, pebbles, carved stones and vase blocks that can be engraved with the dedication of your choosing and placed with your living memorial. Each of these items is priced differently. Please speak with one of our trained team members who will be only too happy to talk you through the options.

A colour or black and white photograph of your loved one may be included which can be added to a memorial if desired.

Living Memorials

Granite PlaquesDedicated plaques are a traditional form for remembrance of a loved one. Natural and long lasting granite plaques are designed to be engraved with your personal dedication and can be placed in one of three areas all within the vicinity of the Garden of Remembrance.

Book of Remembrance

The Book of Remembrance is on view daily, 365 days of the year, in a display cabinet in our waiting room. The book provides an inexpensive yet permanent and dignified memorial with entries recorded by hand on every day of the year.

Entries can also be made for loved ones whose funeral took place elsewhere, as it can provide a place of remembrance for families who have become separated or moved apart.

The book consists of a number of hand made, richly-bound volumes and has a page for every day of the year. Usually, the entry is placed on the date of death but other anniversaries or dates of importance may be chosen. The pages are turned daily.

Two, five or eight lines may be chosen and a floral motif or suitable badge may form part of a five or eight-line entry.

Families often choose to have an entry in the main book together with a number of memorial cards and books for close relatives and friends.

Miniature Books & Memorial CardsThe Miniature Book of Remembrance and memorial cards are intended as personal keep-sakes or for sending to friends and relatives who cannot easily visit the Chapel of Remembrance. Both bear a copy of the inscription in the main book.

The Miniature Book also contains extra pages for future entries to be added so that a family record can be created.

Personal Memorials CollectionWe understand just how much you treasure the memory of your loved ones and scattering of their ashes can be such a final farewell. We now offer a unique range of gold and silver jewellery, along with a collection of stunning crystal memorials. A small amount of your loved one’s ashes are used to create a personal memorial for you to treasure forever.

We have pioneered and patented the process of fusing a small amount of ashes into crystal and precious jewellery, providing a unique and precious keepsake as a memory of your loved one.

All silver items are composed of sterling (.925) silver and gold items of 9ct (.375) yellow gold and are assayed according to British law.

Caskets, Urns and KeepsakesThe crematorium offers a range of caskets and urns for burial or for removal and safe keeping of your loved ones cremated remains.

A range of various sized scatter tubes are also available.

A selection of various designs and sizes of keepsake are also available for those who wish to keep a small amount of their loved ones cremated remains whilst the majority are interred or scattered.
