Expressive Arts and Design Begin to experiment with colours, blocks and marks. Role Play developed alongside children’s interests. Using media and materials to create Winter scenes/Valentine gifts and props for Chinese New Year. Use instruments to create various sounds. Literacy/Writing Wide range of props (puppets, real items) for children to enjoy. Beginning to join in with favourite stories. Start to distinguish and talk about the marks they make. Communication and Language Helicopter Stories. Talking Telephones. Encourage listening and responding, using tone, rhythm and repetition. Winter walks to provide opportunities to discuss senses. i.e What you can hear, see. Learning new vocabulary and sharing experiences. Personal, Social and Emotional Development Values - exploring our own feelings and how to express them. Learning to engage within a small group, showing friendly behaviour. Extend PSED linked to our values, including Gr8 AS U R. Mathematics Props to aid counting songs and rhymes. Use games and equipment for counting. Begin to make comparisons between quantities. Sand/Water play to explore volume and capacity.
