In 'September, the HOG ventured to. the primeval cy-press swampsof Caddo. Lake, Texas' largest naturallake: We kayaked through 13 miles of the 43 miles o.f

. "boat roads," exploring pristine areas as birdswatched us from high atop-cypress trees. 'Water liliesfl?ating on tlte emerald surface parted and closed ,\S'the kayaks passed, not leaving a trace.

Back at camp; the lazy afternoon was wiled away inhammocks swayed by the piney breeze. Offeringswere made that night to appease the marauding rac-'coons, who. accepted the cherry cobbler no. one elsedared touch!

, Saturday evening w~ oohed and aahed over rhe histor-ic buildings in nearby Jefferson and spoiled Qui,din-ner with homemade ice cream at the Old General, '
