1. HOMECOMING by Lynn Ryan – The welcoming arms of the San Jacinto Mountain's ridgeline embrace us and call us home. Idyllwild is natural beauty, caring community, and a place to come home to ourselves. Some will stay, but all will carry the sense of experiencing

homecoming with us wherever we go.2. MAGIC by Erin Murray – The intersection of Fern Valley

Corners was once destined to be a separate town with the Creekstone Inn being the market. In the 1950's, the original developers

reluctantly agreed to unite with Idyllwild. Erin's captivating images invite you to take a seat and breathe in the magic and healing elements that exist around

every corner of Idyllwild. (artinidyllwild.org)3. SKYLINE QUARTET by Eric Yandell – At home in the beautiful forests

of Idyllwild, this buck captures its splendor. Idyllwild is home to many species of trees such as Ponderosa Pines, Jeffrey Pines, Sugar Pines, Coulter Pines, Sequoia groves and the ubiquitous Manzanita to name some of the more predominant green guardians of Idyllwild.4. JAZZY by Rachel Welch – Music is an engrained part of Idyllwild. Beginning with the Idyllwild Arts Academy, one of three nationally

recognized boarding high schools for the arts, the rhythm of Idyllwild is fed by incredible talent. Rachel's vibrant design offers a glimpse at our

live music scene. The jazz band captures the spirited beat that resonates throughout our village and the solo guitarist offers a haven for pure tranquility.

(artinidyllwild.org)5. FAWN OPAL by ULRIKE - Fawn Opal is the Princess of the Magical Idyllwild Forest. A child's imagination can capture the essence of this fairytale, set in the tranquil forests of Idyllwild. Born as a simple brown fawn, Opal has a heart of gold and her enduring, loving, kind nature gains her the admi-ration of the Enchanted Forest Elf, who transforms Opal into a bright, colorful fawn, adorned with her favorite creatures and flowers; and ultimately awards her the honor of becoming the princess of the Idyllwild forest. (thehappypaintbrush.com)6. ANCIENT CHILD by Desert Chavez & Kellen Chavez – Wildly painted in an abstract and intuitive style. The deer has a variety of different tribal designs and color allowing the viewer a new experience. It is also a dedicated work to bring awareness to fighting brain cancer that is signified by the grey rib-bon.7. BELLA by Jerry Baccaire – Native plants are essential to maintaining Idyllwild's wildlife. Bella, an abstract creation by Jerry, incorporates 26 different native plants including the rare Lemon Lily. Using a technique called Pontillism, a series of dots were transformed into a blanket of paisley designs representing the four seasons, ladybug eyes, a strawberry nose, and a "Tree of Life". (jerryartcom.com)8. ROCKY by Neil Jenkins & Donna Elliot – Hiking and rock climbing are favorite pastimes in Idyllwild. Tahquitz Rock, often called Lily Rock, sits at 8,750 feet above sea level and Suicide Rock is named after an Indian tale akin to Romeo and Juliet. With over 500 named climbs, it is here that the international rating system for rock climbing was founded. Avid hikers and climbers, Neil and Donna's design offers an extraordinary birds-eye view of both worlds. (peakdancers.com)9. MANZANITA by Robert Bush – Manzanita translated means "little apple". With over 106 varieties along the coastal mountain regions, it is a common shrub in Idyllwild and the berries were once a food source to the Indians. The mysterious gray dead branches wrapped by red skin are brilliantly inter-preted by Robert. Blink and you might miss it! (artinidyllwild.org)10 WINTER MIDNIGHT by Karlis Dabols – Thanks to generations of visionaries that planted their roots in Strawberry Valley, our history is a tapestry of colorful stories. Karlis offers a snow globe view of the European settlers that brought their cattle here in the 1860s. The broken antler is a testament to the fire personnel who saved Karlis' house during the 2013 Silver Fire. Like the pioneers, it is broken yet standing! (artinidyllwild.org)11. IDY-DOE by Helen Haskell-Molles – The film industry has been a part of Idyllwild and Garner Valley since the early 1900's. Fast forward to the 1960's - Elvis Presley and Peter Fonda brought Idyllwild to the big screen. As you investigate the 8 film types represented, not only will you recognize many building and sites, you will be awed by Helen's microscopic detail! (artinidyllwild.org)12. GROVER by Millie Shaw – As you delight at the sweet innocence of Millie's fawn, you are stand-ing in a new forest. The ancient trees, many the sizes of cars, were cut down in the 1870's for con-struction materials and fruit crates. Over 4,000 acres were logged, leaving a graveyard of stumps. Had it not been for President Grover Cleveland's creation of the 1897 San Jacinto Forest Reserve, the town and forest of today would not exist. (artinidyllwild.org)13. LEFTY by Brenda Underwood – In 1901, the Idyllwild Sanatorium was built in the center of Idyllwild. It was designed to house 40 tuberculosis patients, but the cold weather posed a chal-lenge. In 1903 it became the Strawberry Creek Lodge, which burnt down in 1904. Brenda captures the appeal of this iconic building and Strawberry Creek with layers of saturated color that open the

doors to Idyllwild's rich history. (expressonsinart.com)14. THE CAHUILLA STORY by Grace Davis & Zora Schoner – The San Jacinto mountain range has the second fastest elevation gain of any range in the 48 continental states. While today's modern transportation makes the trek effortless, the pilgrimage of the Cahuilla Indians was quite different. An

interactive learning experience, painted by Grace (age 12) and Zora (age 14), this delightful design includes images that were important to the Cahuilla.

Grace also created a FREE activity booklet that is available at the Historical Society and follows the Cahuilla Story from Desert to Mountain.15. VENISONT VAN GOGH by Stephen Packard - Based on three famous

paintings by Vincent Van Gogh, “Venisont” is a collage of sunflowers, stars and cypress. Inspired by many evenings spent under the starry nights of the San Jacinto

Mountains. If the real Vincent had known the lemon lily we are sure he would have painted them with all the passion he poured into his lilacs! 16. DAY TO NIGHT IN IDYLLWILD by Becky Wyko & Trudy Adler - In Idyllwild, both the days and nights offer spectacular opportunities to tune into nature and stare in awe at the expanse of the universe. Our doe pauses to greet the sun to begin her day of

foraging and turns to bathe under the stars as she beds down for the night.

reminder about the tiny specks of stardust we all represent; shining our light and our gifts through the universe. "Chase the moon, ride the stars" and see all the beauty around you while on this part of the journey.38. ALFREDO by Syndey Alexis, Sarah Brosterhous, Soleil Castellano, Athena Cilley, Geneva Dagnall, Brina Henry, Alyza Iniguez, Kekona Millhouse, Evelyn Reba, Zada Smith, Seth White & Tegan White – Afredo was a col-laborate effort of middle school art-elective students, 6-8th grade. Idyllwild students were in charge of pattern, design layout and colors and worked as a team to make sure that the sections flowed together. Afredo represents the mindset of these students, from colorful bold images to wee little ladybugs crawling up vines. He is a lovely blend of young minds working together to make a single piece of art as well as holding on to their original pattern and con-cept.39. LILLY by Carol Landry – Named for Idyllwild's Lemon Lilies that pop up once a year. In earlier times, the story is that the hills would be covered with thousands of Lemon Lilies and every year people from all over would come to see them. They started pulling them out and taking them home and eventually they started disap-pearing. They still grow in certain parts of Idyllwild. Idyllwild has a Lemon Lilly Festival every year. (carollandryfineart.myportfolio.com)40. THE MAYORS OF IDYLLWILD by Neil Jenkins – The Mayors of Idyllwild do much to put joy in the hearts of people and to support every animal rescue initiative possible. This deer honors the memory of Mayor Max the First and Pookie Louise Mueller as well as thanking Mayor Max, the Second, and Deputy Mayors Mitzi and Mikey for their uncon-ditional love and good deeds. (peakdancers.com)41. COSMOS by Ben Gilton – Inspired to create a sense of hospitality by both the yin and yang side of the idea: There is imagery of a pineapple in the mountains, as well as an innkeeper holding up a candle stick, which is a traditional warm interpretation. On the other side, a Native American has set out a bowl of offerings, but has hid behind a rock before anyone can tell.42. CREEKSIDE ATTRACTIONS by Rob Padilla – People enjoy the many activities that abound in Idyllwild's unique natural environment: picnics, camping, hiking, climbing, skat-ing, bike riding, dog walking, wildlife viewing, music, art and photography. All mixed in with great hospitality from its local inns, restaurants and shops. Idyllwild's great outdoors will entertain the entire family.43. BIRDIE by Sherri Domenigoni - Birdie is a birders' favorite: She is covered with many colorful mountain birds – an owl, quail, songbirds, falcon, geese, eagles and a great blue heron. She is nestled in the forest where she feels right at home. (heronenterprises.org)44. THE RAINBOW BRIDGE by Jan Bruner, PhD – Idyllwild loves animals, as is evi-denced by Mayor Max (a lovable golden retriever) that was voted into “office” in 2012. Inspired by her service dog, Living Free Animal Shelter, ARF, and a poem called "The Rainbow Bridge", Jan's whimsical design celebrates our lasting connection to our K-9 companions. (janbruner.com)45. THE MAD HATTER by Kirsten, Raegan and Reese Ingbretsen – The "Mad Hatter" is a whimsical interpretation of Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adven-tures in Wonderland". The novel is a metaphor for life and you can see in the artists' rendition; life should not be taken too seriously. Enjoy the ride - all the rabbit holes, battles, and tea parties. 46. COSMIC LOVE by Sasha Nicol and Marty Prevosto – The idea of our Deer was manifested through our love of star gazing in the mountains of our beautiful Idyllwild. We've spent many glorious evenings hand in hand enjoying the beauty of our night skies. Our deer is a representation of those experiences!47. DEER TO MY HEART IDYLLWILD by Lauretta Lowell – I remember as a little girl exploring the forests in Japan and being mesmerized by the large crows, the animals and the thick growth of unusual trees. My imagination went wild! This deer represents the wonder of exploring the magic mountain forests of Idyllwild filled with wildlife, flora and possibilities. (whimsicalcuriosities.com)48. THE TRICKSTER by Lois Sheppard – A healthy member of her pack, this coyote will probably not disturb the deer nearby. She is curious, aware of everything around (including you), and eats everything from berries to birds to the small rodents that abound in this habitat. Native Americans respected the coyote's clever ways and called them "trickster" in many stories. (pictureyourdog.000webhostapp.com)49. WET PAINT by Ron Singerton – Dripping with artistic talent, Idyllwild is a welcome retreat for both artists and art enthusiasts. Lead by the Art Alli-ance of Idyllwild every imaginable AND un-imaginable style of art is avail-able. Struck by the movement of paint and overlay of colors, Ron's buck leaves ample room for interpretation and is designed to ignite conversa-tion. (singertonfinearts.com)50. IDA QUILTER by Pat Hughes – Quilting dates back 5000 years and is based on the Latin word 'culcita”, that means “stuffed mattress”. Using a paint technique called Trompe l'oeil or the art of illusion, Pat honors the quilters and textile artisans of Idyllwild. A stunning interpretation that leaves viewers wondering if they are indeed seeing a deer draped in a quilt. (artinidyllwild.org)51. ATHENA by 2013 Idyllwild PTA smARTS Students – As the youn-gest artists, 13 elementary students from our local smARTS program created a painted patchwork of delightful images. Supported by volun-teers that aim to expose children to the arts, you will be moved by their overall cohesive style. With the theme "Art Heals", this playful design instantly captivates attention.

17. FOXY LADY by Bonnie Minken Soules – Color and fantasy capture the imagination as a dwarf naps amongst the brightly pigmented flowers and tall grass under a blue sky with billowy white clouds. Shhhh … be quiet …. or you will wake him!18. FOREST by Rachel Welch – "Forest" is about the beauty of our mountain and how this brings us together as a community. We are able to enjoy hiking, biking or sitting by the creek. On the back of the buck, there is a beautiful sunset. The head feature stars, which are so amazing at night in Idyllwild. This natural beauty is something that we all can enjoy, whether we live here or are visiting.19. SPIRIT OF TAUQUITCH by Darcy Gerdes – Tahquitz Rock was made legend by native tribes who told tales of disappearing maidens. Chief Tauquitch was suspected of the terrible deeds. Darcy's artistic story book style chronicles the boulder battle between the braves and their evil chief who transformed himself into a sea serpent. The white deer is recognition to the Native Americans that believe in the sacred powers of the white deer. (artinidyllwild.org)20. WILD THING by Rich Stergulz – In the world of art, Rich's portraits are revered because of their impressionistic accuracy. On a quest to simply have fun, Rich elected to forge into the world of pure color. Inspired by the Partridge Family Bus, the result is a flurry of off-colored animals. The only illustrated "portrait" on the piece is of our local Idyll-Beast! (stergulzart.com)21. FOUR SEASONS by Mimi Lamp – Idyllwild has four seasons, which is an exception to the sunny weather that generally defines Southern California. Mimi's design presents the seasons with the use of 4 distinct quadrants that welcome onlookers aboard a voyage of leaves that transition through our colorful falls, crisp winters, budding springs, and pleasant summers. (artbymimi.net)22. FLORA AND FAWNA by Lois Sheppard – Overgrown by a collage of local wildflowers, ferns, and fauna - this carefree creation warrants a closer look. Lois' cheerful design takes audiences on a visual scavenger hunt revealing bees, butterflies, a chipmunk, a hummingbird, and even a lizard. This treasure hunt will entertain both the young and the young at heart! (Pictureyourdog.net)23. AMERICANA by Anna Marie Head & Jerry Baccaire – “Americana” honors the many Veter-ans and branches of service represented in Idyllwild. Befitting symbols on this buck include an American Flag and American Eagle. It is ideally situated across from Idypark that is dedicated to Idyllwild's Veterans and First Responders.23 A. METAL SCULPTURE by Dore Capitani – At the age of 7, Dore wrote, “When I grow up I will be a steel or iron maker.” Lucky for Idyllwild, this statement would become his identity as an artist. This 300 pound monument includes a local rock and spider detail. With the assistance of Mother Nature, the cut detail will further rust as time passes. (doresmountainartgarden.com)23 B. Former site of OPEN FOR BUSINESS by Fariad & Jennifer Ali, sponsored by Ken & Judi Winslow – destroyed beyond repair.24. ANIMAL VALUES (Fawn) by Gideon Cohn – Idyllwild is an animal-loving town, whether it's the town's pet friendly shops and hotels, or their love for the abundance of animals in nature, all are loved. Idyllwild is the place to be and visit with your pet. (GideonArtist.com) 25. FAMILY VALUES (Doe) by Gideon Cohn – A town where everyone IS a family, friendly to each other, old and young and everyone in between. One cannot be lost in Idyllwild, nor find themselves without a roof over their head. When in Idyllwild, one feels right away the feeling of embrace, friend-liness and love. (GideonArtist.com)26. IDYLLWILD VALUES (Buck) by Gideon Cohn – Idyllwild, a quaint, artistic town hidden in panoramic mountainous views, with four seasons and “moms and pops” shops, escaped the “ad-vancement” of the big city chain stores and was able to maintain its charm throughout the years. Values rarely seen elsewhere can be found here in Idyllwild. (GideonArtist.com)27. JANE DOE by Jan Jaspers-Fayer – The migration and plight of the monarch butterfly is illus-trated by Jan who has been mesmerized by the beauty of butterflies since growing up in Holland. Emerging from behind a veil of fluttering butterflies, Jan's doe is a dazzling tribute to those that believe butterflies represent the spirits of loved ones.(idyllwildartandsculpture.com)28. DOTTIE by Kathy Harmon-Luber – Popping with vibrant colors, Kathy's impressionistic style highlights the essential life-giving element of water. Not surprisingly, the answer to what lures peo-ple to "The Hill" is hidden among the layers of dots, winding reeds, ripples of water, majestic moun-tains, and gateway of stars framing Mother Luna.(kathyharmonluber.com)29. PETITO by Marilyn D. F. Boire – Idyllwild was originally called Strawberry Valley because of the wild strawberries that grow along our creek. Inspired by this image, Marilyn portrays the "Layers of Idyllwild - Earth to Heavens". From the ancient ground to the brilliant sky, the colors reflect the happiness of those who "idle awhile" among the tranquil beauty of Idyllwild. (artinidyllwild.org)30. WHIMSICAL IDYLLWILD by Gerry High – A whimsical interpretation of Idyllwild. A magical land. Even the Goldfish fly.31. SAMUEL DEERFLY by Dore Capitani – A blend of mechanics and organics to create a unique and imaginative piece of Steampunk-inspired art.32. PROTECTOR by Darwin – As a majestic figure of the forest, alert and flight of hoof, this buck serves to protect the other forest creatures found in his emerald green realm.33. HARMONY by Melody Cohn – The feelings of Peace, Joy & Harmony reside within the environment of the flowing water in Strawberry Creek Forever ♫♪ and I find that the ambience of that and the Blue Jays, Grey Squirrels and many other wildlife beings release a sound that creates a beautiful music compilation. The vision of all of this and the blessings received from Mother Earth sends messages through a colorful RAINBOW and I feel my chakras are bal-anced leaving me in a blissful state of happiness, peace and joy. (Images-Gallery.com)34. FERN by Jacque Swerdfeger – Fern Valley has two famous climbs: Suicide Rock and Lilly Rock. Those that are fit and willing, enjoy them from on top. The rest of us marvel at their beauty from below. "Fern" scenes depict these vistas - enhanced by the red of the "Alpenglow" occasionally seen at sunset.35. CAHUILLA & COCHIMI by Elanie Moore – Painted with both tribe's designs and colors, signifying their respect for the deer's special powers, is Moore's tribute of gratitude to the Cochimi whose ancient cave paintings she has been studying since 1982. Also, gratitude to the Cahuilla upon whose land Moore places her respect and home, with its herd of deer.36. I LOVE YOU DEERLY by Tracy Meier – Created with subtleties of our beloved mountain. Headdress of bougainvillea, acorn, hummingbird and trinkets to represent from the Palms to the Pines. Sign language symbol on the breastplate gratefully states, “I LOVE YOU, DEERLY” Memories of my children, Marcus and Amanda in the 4th of July parade in town, 2008.37. AURORA BOREALIS by Rosalind Gong, Aurora Wackford, Raegan Ingbretsen. Ms K Ingbretsen & ASB Students 2017-18 – The bright dancing lights of the Aurora is a gentle
