ALL SAINTS ACADEMY

ASA – A Model Early Childhood Center Currently Accepting Enrollments for September 2017

Our extensive Early Childhood Center is considered a model setting for young children of the Parsippany area. It includes a PreSchool level for three-year old children, a PreKindergarten program for four-year old children and a full day Kindergarten. The faith-filled environment provides young children with a nurturing setting for a “first school experience.” The Early Childhood curriculum is developmentally driven, providing an integration of spiritual, physical, intellectual and social-emotional components. The teaching team has developed a highly enriched language and mathematics program based on the combination of play and pre-academic skills. All Early Childhood instruction is also infused with the tenets of STEM education. Vibrant teaching and genuine learning occurs through the interweaving of science, technology, engineering and math in daily classroom lessons. There are full and half day sessions available in both the PreSchool and PreKindergarten levels. After School care is also available for students of the Early Childhood Center until 6 pm. Please contact All Saints Academy’s principal, Mrs. Judy Berg, at 973-334-4704, for information regarding your child’s entry into this fine program.

parish, assist in fostering …A pastoral council possesses a consultative vote diocesan bishop

The beginning of a new fiscal year brings about changes in parish councils such as our Trustees and Advisory Board. As new Trustees, I welcome Monica Lennie and Austin McBride who will serve as Trustees for a term for five-year terms. I thank our outgoing Trustees, Loretta Gragnani and Mike Santo for their service to the parish in general and for their guidance and suggestions when I first arrived in

the parish a year ago.

As for the Advisory Board, I welcome new members Michael Arcaro, Geri Catala, and Sheryl Granet as they begin their three-year commitment to the Board. On behalf of the parish I extend heartfelt thanks to the outgoing Board members, Kathy Del Guercio,

I look forward to working with our new Trustees and Advisory Board members as we plan for the future while maintaining our mission to “proclaim joyfully the presence of Jesus to the whole comm.

The Twenty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

“Tensions of living the Christian life result from God-given freedom.”(Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1730-1732)

Today is a day of reflection for all of us who gather here at God’s invitation. Jesus asks us what profit there is in gaining the whole world if we forfeit our life. We would do well to assess our priorities and examine whether we wish to live for ourselves or for Christ. Let us pray today for the grace to take up our cross and follow Him.

Labor Day

“Work is fundamental to the dignity of a person. Work, to use a metaphor, ‘anoints’ us with dignity, fills us with dignity, makes us similar to God, who has worked and still works, who always acts; it gives one the ability to maintain oneself, one’s family, to contribute to the growth of one’s own nation.”

(Pope Francis, St. Peter’s Square, General Audience, May 1, 2013) This weekend, our nation celebrates the Labor Day Holiday. On June 28, 1894, the United States Congress enacted a law making the first Monday in September a day to pay national tribute to the contributions workers make to the prosperity of our country. Believe it or not, this holiday was not created to give people one last three-day weekend down the shore. Let us take some time out from our parties this weekend to spend it in prayer. Let us pray for all who labor and work, for migrant workers and factory hands who labor to feed and clothe us, for parents who labor to care for their families, and for all who seek the dignity of work and meaningful employment. Please join us for Daily Mass in the Chapel on Labor Day, Monday, September 4th, at 8:30 a.m.

Labor Day Prayer

Fill us at daybreak with your kindness, that we may shout for joy and gladness all our days.

And may the gracious care of the LORD our God be ours; prosper the work of our hands for us!

Prosper the work of our hands! (Psalm 90:14-17)

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (RCIA)

Each year on Holy Saturday, during the Easter Vigil in the United States, parishes welcome new members into full communion with the Catholic Church through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). RCIA is a discernment and preparation process through which the adult is formed in the Christian faith. Deacon Al Frank coordinates our program for adults needing any or all of the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation. Our RCIA program this year starts in the Fall, and our RCIA participants will receive their sacraments at the Easter Vigil on Saturday, March 31st, 2018. Any interested in joining our RCIA group in the Fall are invited to contact Fr. David or Deacon Al for more information.

WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE BOOK OF REVELATION?

Saint Ann Church will be sponsoring an 11-week course on the Book of Revelation, with DVD and discussion sessions titled “The Kingdom Yet to Come. ” It is an intriguing study that shows how the kingdom established by Christ in his Church is intimately connected with the Kingdom of Heaven. Deacon Len and Michael Conaway will facilitate the course study.

v You will discover what the mysterious figures, numbers and images of the Book of Revelation mean. v You will see how the Book of Revelation is more than an apocalyptic vision of the "end times." v It is a revelation of God as our Divine Bridegroom and the Church as His spotless Bride, forever united in a heavenly, holy,

and mystical marriage that we enter into every time we celebrate the Mass.

CLASSES START SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 17TH THROUGH TO THE FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 26TH, FROM 9:00 AM UNTIL 10:20 AM EVERY SUNDAY.
