John Christopher "Johnny" Depp II (born June 9, 1963) is an American actor, screenwriter, film producer and musician.He was born in Owensboro, Kentucky, and lived in Florida, the USA, the youngest of four children of Betty Sue Palmer, a waitress, and John Christopher Depp, a civil engineer. He didn’t finish his school and decided to become a rock musician. He played with “The Kids”, a band that enjoyed modest local success. At 20 Depp met Nicolas Cage. Cage offered Depp the role in the film "A Nightmare on Elm Street", which was Depp’ s first role.

His first nomination for the "Golden Globe" Depp received for the role in Tim Burton's "Edward Scissor hands." With this film regular cooperation between Depp and Burton begins. Burton's film roles played perhaps the most significant part in the popularity of the actor.
