Martial Arts
IVA Institute is an institution of higher learning and proud to offer a Bachelor's Degree, Master’s
Degree and Doctorate Degree in martial arts studies. While martial arts studies at the University
level has long been a part of academic life in Asia, IVA’s program is unique in that it combines a
wide range of liberal arts courses with martial arts practice.
The program offered explores four aspects of the martial arts:
1. Historical background and philosophical roots of the martial arts.
2. Languages and cultures of the societies in which the martial arts originated and
developed.
3. In-depth study of at least one of the martial arts.
4. Psychosocial dimensions of the martial arts and their impact upon personality and
society.
It has long been argued that through study of the martial arts, people develop a measurable
sense of accomplishment and a mastery of mind over body, contributing to greater self -esteem.
Through the teacher-student relationship the martial arts student embarks on a voyage of self-
discovery and learns the importance of respect and regard for others.

Executive Protection
Today’s executive protection officers need to have a global mindset and deep knowledge in
international security. IVA’s Executive Protection has a focus on international executive
protection studies for this exact reason. Through the core courses, students learn about
strategy in the international executive protection environment, how global security works and
how to communicate in an international environment, while allowing students to deepen their
knowledge in their research topic in executive protection, thus helping them to become experts
in their field.
The Executive Protection program is designed to give the professional in the executive
protection field or the student who is considering getting in the field, a firm understanding of:
defensive tactics, agent-client relations, vehicle security, threat assessment, perimeter security,
basic team management and advance work, gathering intelligence, identifying potential
hazards, providing protective services to dignitaries and advance work, which is required for
preparation, and avoidance of conflict.
