Overview

GemPro Version 4.9.1

Global Equity Market Processor

GemPro is a software program designed to minimise the management time required tomaintain an accurate database for major Global Equity Markets.

The major features of GemPro enable the following tasks to be completed with a minimumamount of effort and time.

Download end-of-day data for multiple Stock Exchanges and Futures Exchanges.

Update a database in a variety of popular formats such as MetaStock compatible,Market Analyst, ProChart and EzyChart.

Manage a database with automatic adjustments for Share splits, Name Changesand other Capital reconstructions.

Maintain a database by Industry category.

Update companies’ Fundamental Data.

Automatically add new company listings or contracts to the database.

Delete the data files for old securities after they expire.

By achieving these objectives GemPro allows you to concentrate onyour trading strategy and technical analysis.

Installation NotesMinimum System RequirementsThe GemPro program is a 32-bit Windows application and requires the following minimumspecifications:

64mb RAM

150mb or more of free Hard Disk space (the space required is dependent upon the

To install GemPro from a CD-ROM:

1. Insert the GemPro CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive. The setup program should startautomatically.

2. If the setup program does not automatically start, then please go to What if the Set-upProgram does not Start Automatically .

3. The set-up program will search for an existing installation of GemPro. If a previousinstallation is found then you can select a folder from the list to update your existingprogram. If it is a new install then you will have the option to set up GemPro in the defaultfolder, or you can click the Browse button to install GemPro in another folder of your choice.

4. Follow the on-screen prompts and instructions to complete the installation procedure.

5. When the installation has been successfully completed, the GemPro program willautomatically start. For a new installation you will be prompted to enter your Client ID. This should have been provided to you with your CD or via e-Mail. If there is not alreadyan installed database then you will be prompted to install the Database from the CD-ROM . For instructions on installing the database please refer to Installing Historical Data fromCD-ROM.

What if the Set-up Program does not StartAutomaticallyIf the set up program does not automatically start a few seconds after you insert the CD-ROMthen follow the steps below.

Click the Windows’ Start button.

Click Run from the pop-up menu.

In the Run dialog box type D:\setup.exe (if D is the letter of your CD drive).

Click the OK button in the Run dialog box to commence the installation program. Return tostep 3 of To Install GemPro from a CD_ROM: .

Installing Historical Data from CD-ROM1. Run the GemPro program. (If you have just installed GemPro, it should start automatically

at the end of the installation process.)

2. If you have installed GemPro to a new folder, the Install Historic Data from CD-Romscreen should appear. otherwise, click Utilities and from the menu bar and select InstallHistorical Data from CD-Rom to show the screen below.

3. Select your CD-ROM drive from the drop down list.

4. The historical data streams relevant to your order should be automatically selected.

5. Click the Install button to start the data installation process.

6. A message will appear when the data has been successfully installed.

To install GemPro from our Website:If you selected to install the GemPro program and historical data from our web site, then youshould have recieved an e-mail with a link to install the program and a Client ID.

1. Click the installation link in your e-mail to deploy the GemPro program from our web site.

2. At the end of the installation the program will automatically run and prompt you to enter inyour Client ID. Enter this and click the Save button.

3. You will then be prompted as to whether you wish to collect your historical data via theinternet. If you have elected to do this, click the Install Historical Data via Internetbutton and follow the prompts. All historical data will be collected from our server andyour entire database brought upto date. The lenght of time that this will take will vary anddepends on the data stream(s) selected and the speed of your internet connection. Inmost cases this should be about 20min.

NOTE:

You may collect historical data from our server at any time by going to the full menu (use then Options/Full Menu command), clicking on the File menu command and selecting InstallHistorical Data via Internet... .

GemPro FeaturesPortfolio Display Grid

GemPro provides a window to your data through the Portfolio Grid, which includes manyfeatures for viewing, sorting, locating and managing your data. To open the Portfolio Grid just

click the Filing Cabanet Icon.

The Portfolio Grid includes five sections:

The World Exchanges view shows the available exchanges in the left pane and a listing of allthe securities for each exchange in a spreadsheet layout in the right pane. It is possible toview, edit, chart and sort the data in the grid, as well as view the stocks related to a specificindustry group.

The Snapshot view provides the interface to real-time data for selected stocks and indices.The collected data can then be distributed to your database for “end-of-day” analysis of theintra-day data.

The Watch List view allows you to create your own customisable lists to quickly check theprogress of your favourite stocks.

The Market Scanner has the benifit of allows you the flexability of scanning your securitiesby fundamental criteria (such as PE ratios) in additional to technical criteria (like an MACDcrossover). The results of the scan create a seperate database whcih can be further analysedby your charting program. The results of the scan are refreshed after each data distribution.

The Stop/Loss Alarms alows you to select price criteria for individual securities. After eachdays data distribution, this section lists any securities which have been triggered.

Sort UtilityThe World Exchanges and Watchlist views of GemPro include a unique feature to sortSecurities. The sort function enables a quick analysis of the days trading and can be sorted byPercentage Change, Volume or Price. You can also sort by Name or ticker Code to easily find aspecific security.

Data in Industry GroupsA new feature in GemPro is the ability to easily maintain your database in Industry Groups. This feature allows you to move your data files to a folder structure that reflects the industrysector levels.

To move your datafiles to a new Industry level is as simple as clicking an icon and selectingthe level required. Your database in the maintained in this sector folder structure.

Fundamental DataGemPro automatically updates the fundamental data as part of your download service. Thedata is updated weekly and includes Dividend Amounts, Ex-Dividend Dates, Earnings perShare and other information indicated in the illustration below.

Intra-day DataGemPro includes the ability to collect Intra-day data from the ASX and LSE as part of thedowload service for each exchange.

The data is delayed (ASX minimum delay is 20 minutes and LSE minimum delay is 15minutes) and available at the times outlined on our website.

Watch ListsGemPro makes it possible to create your own customizable folders containing data for specificstocks, securities or indices you have chosen. Each Watch List can be easily updated oramended when you need to add or remove items.

Each Watch List allows you to quickly review the trading activity in each list directly fromGemPro, as well as from your charting software.

All customised Watch List folders are located in the Watch List folder of the GemPro Datafolder and use the same name as the actual Watch List created.

Industry GroupsBy default, all stocks/futures are listed for the selected exchange. However, you can also viewsecurities for a specific group. These groups can be either Industry Groups for stocks orContract Types for futures. Simply click the + sign next to the stocks/futures folder andthen select the group required.

Automate Your Data CollectionA new feature in GemPro enables you to automate your data collection and processing. To setthe time you would like to automatically collect your data, click the Options menu item andthen click System from the drop down list. To adjust the time settings, select Yes for AutoConnect and click the Change Time button. (If you would like GemPro to automatically closeafter collecting and distributing your data, check the Terminate check box.)

Adjust the time accordingly and remember to save the settings on the System Options window.

To activate the automatic collection feature it is necessary to add GemPro to the Windows’Task Scheduler so that GemPro will launch on a daily basis within 5 minutes before and 30minutes after the time you have set. For simplicity, we suggest that you set the collectiontime in GemPro and the launch time in Scheduler to the same time each day. For informationregarding adding a new task to the Windows’ Task Scheduler, please refer to the Windows’Help facility.

Unless you already have an established connection to the Internet it will be necessary to setthe Windows’ Internet Options to automatically dial your default connection. This feature canbe accessed from the Connections tab in Internet Options, which can be launched from theWindows’ Control Panel.

Note:

Please note that this utility will not automatically terminate your Internet connectionwhen the data collection process is completed. Therefore, we recommend that this

feature be used in conjunction with a permanent Internet connection only.

Quick Find UtilityGemPro includes a Quick Find Utility to help you easily locate the folder for a specific stock orsecurity. The icon to launch the utility is automatically placed in the Window’s System Tray

(the area next to the time usually located in the bottom right of your screen ). Tolaunch the Find utility, double-click the icon or single click and select the Open option from thepop-up menu.

As depicted in the following graphic, you can choose the Exchange and security type to searchfor, allowing you to easily locate the folder for the stock or security you require.

GemPro does not need to be running to use the Quick Find utility so that you can usethe search utility when using your favourite charting program.

BackUp/Restore to CD

The Back-up utilility in GemPro can now copy your data and GemPro settings to CD. Thismakes it simple, as well as economical to secure your data from corruption or hardwarefailures.

NOTE:The Restore option will create an identical copy of your settings. If you wish to restoreGemPro to another Drive/Directory then you need to use the File/Install Data from CD-Rommenu command.

F.A.Q.'sMoving Stocks to an Industry Group StructureThis feature is only relevant to a MetaStock compatible database and includes two options. You can move all stocks for an exchange to a sector or sub-sector directory structure.

Moving all stocks will automatically create the required folders with the same name as therelevant industry sector.

Moving All Stocks by Industry Sector

1. Click the Open Portfolio icon.

2. Click on Stocks for the relevant Exchange.

3. Click the Move All icon to show the following screen.

4. Click the option button to select the desired sector level and then click the Move Allbutton.

5. The moving process will take approximately 5 to 10 minutes.

To maintain your database in the desired Industry Group structure, periodically repeatthe above procedure. Any new stocks that have been added to the database or thathave moved Industry sector will automatically be re-located to the appropriate folder.

Moving Stocks for a Specific Industry Sector.

1. Click the Open Portfolio icon.

2. Click on the + sign next to Stocks for the relevant Exchange.

3. Select the Industry sector to move (or expand to display individual sub-sectors by clicking

the + sign next to the sector name).

4. Click the Move All icon to show the screen below.

5. Select the destination folder from the drop down list or click the New Folder button tocreate a new destination folder.

6. Click the Move All button.

To maintain the folders you have specified in the desired Industry Group structure,periodically repeat the above procedure. Any new stocks that have been added to the

database will then be moved to your specified destination folder.

Refresh HistoryThe Refresh History command allows you to collect our entire data history for a specificsecurity. This is especially useful when you have a corrupt, missing or incomplete data file.

The procedure to refresh the history for a stock, security or index is as follows.

1. Connect to your ISP (Internet Service Provider). If you have call waiting enabled, werecommend that you it before collecting your data.

2. Close your charting software or any charts that may be open.

3. Open the Portfolio Grid by clicking on the Filing Cabanet icon and select the security youwish to refresh.

4. Click the Refresh History icon on the Portfolio grid toolbar to show the following form.

5. Click the Refresh History button to download the historical data for the stock or securityspecified.

The yellow progress bar will turn blue as the data file is downloaded.

Filtering Data StreamsGemPro provides the ability to include or exclude specific data streams. For example, if youdid not want to update the data for Warrants you can exclude this stream from the distributionprocess.

By default, all streams are included and are checked. To exclude a specific stream –

1. Click Options and then select Data Management from the drop down list to open thefollowing window.

2. Uncheck the appropriate check box to exclude the distribution for that data stream.

3. Click Save to confirm your changes.

Creating a Favourite Folder (Watch List)GemPro makes it possible to create your own customizable folders containing data for thespecific stocks, securities or indices you have chosen. The customised folders are created fromthe Watch List view tab in Gempro.

Each Watch List can be easily updated or amended when you need to add or remove items. The real benefit of customised Watch Lists is the ability to quickly review the trading activity ineach list directly from GemPro, as well as from your charting software.

All customised Watch List data folders are located in the Watch List folder of the main Datafolder and uses the name used to create the Watch List.

Deleting Expired Future's Contracts

Open GemPro and click on the Open Portfolio file icon.

Click on Futures Contracts for the relevant Futures’ exchange

All futures contracts can be identified by the last two-characters, which represents the monthand year of expiry.

Click on an required Code to select it.

Click the delete icon and then click Delete Security to show the Delete Security screen.Click the Delete It button to confirm the deletion.

Repeat until all expired contracts are deleted.

Deleting Expired Exchange Traded Options (ETOs)To delete expired Exchange Traded Options:

1. Launch the GemPro program.

2. Click the Utilities menu item and then click Delete Expired ETOs from the drop down listto display the following screen.

3. Select the expiry date required.

4. Click the Delete ! button.

Rebuild the Portfolio Grid (MetaStock format)It is possible to re-build the data grid from the actual data files. This feature is only applicablefor MetaStockâ compatible format and, in most cases, should be only be attempted when youare instructed to do so by a GemPro support staff. To rebuild your Portfolio Grid (wheninstructed by support) complete the following steps:

Launch GemPro and click the Options menu item and select the Full Menu item.

Click the File menu item, then click Import Data Details. The following screen shouldappear.

Select the Exchange and data stream (Stocks, Indices, Futures Contracts etc.) that youwould like to import. The folders applicable for the selected data stream will appear in theDirectory List area on the right.

Click the Import button.

When the importation process has finished, the Portfolio Grid for the selected Data Stream willhave been re-built. To rebuild additional data streams, repeat the process as outlined above.

Correcting Corrupt Data

1. Open GemPro and click on the Open Portfolio File icon.

2. Select the relevant security on the Portfolio Grid.

3. Delete the selected security by clicking the Delete icon and then click DeleteSecurity to show the Delete Security screen. Click the Delete It button to confirm thedeletion.

4. Collect your daily data as normal. This will recreate a new data file for the deleted securitywith one days of information. (If you have already collected your data you can use the Utilities/Distribute Daily Data menu command to re-distribute a previous days of data).

5. Select the newly created Code on the Portfolio grid.

6. Click the Refresh History Icon to restore the history for the selected security viathe Internet.

Collecting Your Daily DataDownloading Your Outstanding DataThe GemPro data servers keep a record of the last date you collected, therefore the procedureto collect your data is the same whether your outstanding data is for one day or more. Thereis generally a limit of around 3 months for collecting outstanding data, as our servers do notstore the daily data files indefinitely.

The procedure to collect your outstanding daily data is as follows.

1. Connect to your ISP (Internet Service Provider). If you have call waiting enabled, werecommend that you it before collecting your data.

2. Close your charting software or any charts that may be open.

3. Click the Collect Daily Data via Internet icon on the main toolbar to show the followingscreen.

4. Click the Collect Daily Data button.

The yellow progress bar will turn blue as your outstanding data is downloaded. After the datadownload has completed a screen showing a list of the files collected will be displayed.

After a short pause, as indicated by the red timer bar, the Data Distribution process shouldcommence automatically if your System parameter for Auto Distribute is set to ‘Yes’. (AutoDistribute is set to ‘Yes’ by default when you install GemPro)

If, however, the Auto Distribute paramater is set to ‘No’ then you will need to click the Distribute Now button to commence the distribution process. Please refer to the AutoDistribute Option if you require more information.

If you do not want to distribute the data at this time then you can either cancel or pause thedistribution process by clicking the appropriate button.

NOTE:

There are three styles for data collection. The default if FTP. However, you also have theoption of selecting HTTP or the WEB. Generally the web opion should only be used if you areexperiencing problems with the other two methods and you are advised to do so by your dataservice provider.

Also, there are four servers from which you may collect your data. The cycle option isselected by default so that if there is a problem with any one server the communicationautomatically cycles to the next. This can be turned off if you wish to use one particularserver exclusively.

Re-Collect Specific DatesGemPro provides the ability to re-collect a specified date or a group of dates. This feature isusually only needed should you experience a break in transmission when collecting youroutstanding data. Although this is not common, it is inconvenient when it occurs making thisfeature extremely useful when needed.

The procedure to re-collect specific dates is as follows.

1. Connect to your ISP (Internet Service Provider).

2. Close your charting software or any charts that may be open.

3. If the Portfolio grid is open, then close the grid to show the main menu list. Click the I-Netmenu item and select Re-Collect Specific Dates from the drop down list.

4. Select the Single Day or Group of Days option.

5. Enter the Day (or Start and End Dates) to collect. Please use the down or up arrows nextto the date box to scroll the dates forward or backward, as this ensures the date format isretained. Also, please ensure the dates entered are actual trading days and not a weekenddate or public holiday.

6. Click the Collect Specific Dates button.

There are three styles for data collection. The default if FTP. However, you also have theoption of selecting HTTP or the WEB. Generally the web opion should only be used if you areexperiencing problems with the other two methods and only when you are advised to do so byyour data service provider.

Also, there are four servers from which you may collect your data. The cycle option isselected by default so that if there is a problem with any one server the communicationautomatically cycles to the next. This can be turned off if you wish to use one particularserver exclusively.

Intra-day DownloadsDelayed Intra-day data is available in conjunction with some GemPro data services. Pleasecontact with your data service provider to check whether your service includes Intra-Daydownloads.

Intra-day data is delayed and is avaliable 20 minutes (Australia) or 15 minutes (U.K.) after thehour during normal day trading time.

The procedure to collect the current Intra-day data is as follows -

1. Connect to your ISP (Internet Service Provider).

2. Close your charting software or any charts that may be open.

3. If the Portfolio grid is open, then close the grid to show the main menu list. Click the I-Netmenu command and select Collect Intra-Day Quotes to show the following screen.

4. Select the exchange and click the Collect button to display the following window.(Currently, intra-day data is only avaliable for the Australian and the London stockexchanges).

5. Click the Collect Intra-Day button.

The yellow progress bar will turn blue as your the data is collected. After the data downloadhas completed a screen showing a list of the files collected will be displayed.

Refresh HistoryThe Refresh History command allows you to collect the entire data history for a specificsecurity. This is especially useful when you have a corrupt, missing or incomplete data file.

The procedure to refresh the history for a stock, security or index is as follows.

1. Connect to your ISP (Internet Service Provider).

2. Close your charting software or any charts that may be open.

3. Open the Portfolio Grid by clicking the Filing cabinet icon and select the security inquestion.

4. Click the Refresh History icon on the Portfolio grid toolbar to show the followingform.

5. Click the Refresh History button to download the historical data for the security specified.

Data Update Format The Data Update format is usually set when you install the software and database. GemProhas the ability to maintain a database in a variety of formats including MetaStock,MarketAnalyser, EzyChart, ProChart and StockEzy.

If you do need to change the format complete the following -

1. From the main menu select Options.

2. Choose System from the drop down list.

3. Click the Change button, select the required format and click Select This.

4. On the System Options window, click the Save button.

Data DistributionAuto Distribute OptionThe Auto Distribute option determines whether or not information automatically distributes toyour database after data collection. If this option is set to Yes (which is the default) then thecollected data will automatically distributed to your database.

To edit this option:

Click Options from the menu main menu and select System from the drop down list.

Select the Yes or No option button as required.

Click the Save button to activate you changes.

Distributing a Days DataThe data distribution process is normally initiated automatically after you collect youroutstanding data. However, if you need to distribute the data manually or re-distribute aprevious date then follow the steps below:

1. Click Options and then select Full Menu from the drop down list.

2. Click the Data menu item and then click Distribute Daily from the drop down list to showthe following screen.

3. Select the date for a Single Day or a start and end date to distribute a Group of Days .

4. Click the check box(es) of the data stream(s) to be distributed.

5. Click the Distribute button to commence the distribution process.

Data ManagementMoving Stocks to an Industry Group StructureThis feature is only relevant to a MetaStock compatible database and allows you can move allstocks for an exchange to a sector or sub-sector directory structure.

Moving all stocks will automatically create the required folders with the same name as therelevant industry sector.

1. Click the Open Portfolio icon

2. Click on Stocks for the relevant Exchange.

3. Click the Move All icon to show the following screen.

5. The process will take 5 to 10 minutes.

To maintain your database in the desired Industry Group structure, periodically repeatthe above procedure. Any new stocks that have been added to the database will be

moved to the appropriate folder.

Back-Up Your DataGemPro provides a convenient utility to Back-up your data to a CD writer (burner). Toback-up your data and GemPro settings:

1. Insert a writable disk in you CD writer drive.

2. Launch the GemPro program.

3. Click the Back-Up/Restore icon or goto Utilities menu item and then click Back-Upto CD from the drop down list.

4. The back-up utility will detect a compatible CD writer and then display the screen depictedbelow.

Restore Your Back-upThere are two methods for restoring your back-up. The first is to restore the database for thesame location as when the back-up disk was created. The second is to restore the database toanother location, such as transferring your database to a new computer or simply to a newdrive on the same computer.

1. Insert your CD back-up disk in your CD-ROM Drive.

To restore your back-up data files to a new location, such as a new computer or a differentdrive. If its a new computer then you must install the GemPro program first. The latestversion can be obtained from your data service provider.

After installing the GemPro program, insert your back-up CD disk in your CD-ROM drive anduse the File / Install Historical Data from CD-ROM menu command.

Filtering Data StreamsGemPro provides the ability to include or exclude specific data streams. For example, if youdid not want to update the data for Warrants you can exclude this stream from the distributionprocess.

Scaling the DataThe data for GemPro is scaled correctly at source and is also automatically

adjusted for corporate actions such as splits and capital re-constructions andshould normally not be changed unless you require specific customization to thescaling of your data. We do NOT recommend you alter the scaling of your data

but the steps to do so are outlined below.

1. Click the Open Portfolio icon.

2. Highlight the security to be scaled.

3. Click on the Edit icon and select Scale Data to display the following window -

4. Select the Start and End Records of the data to be scaled (by default they are the firstand last data records).

5. Select the Price and/or Volume checkbox and enter the scaling factor required. Forexample: To multiply all prices by 100, click the price check box and enter 100.

6. Click the Scale Now button to implement the new scaling.

Important Note:

Changing the scaling factor as described above only changes the data currently in yourexisting data file. It is not possible to change the scaling of the data you download. It isrecommended that you do NOT rescale historical data files as they will no longer match thedownloaded data.

Merging Data Files (MetaStock Format)The Merge data utility enables you to combine the data from some external source to thehistorical file in your current system. To merge two data files:

5. Select the ‘old’ file to be merged from the list that appears.

6. Select the Ending Date required for the ‘old’ data file using the vertical scroll bar.

7. Select the Starting Date required for the current file. (This is, generally, the first dateafter the ending date you have selected for the ‘old’ file.)

8. Click the Merge button to merge the ‘old’ data with the current data file.

Viewing Fundamental DataIn addition to the end-of-day trading information, GemPro automatically collects theFundamental data for stocks on a weekly basis. Finding a SecurityGemPro allows you to easily locate securities by their ticker code or by name.

To find and select a specific security on the Portfolio grid -

1. Open the Portfolio grid by clicking the Filing cabinet icon ; then select the Exchangeand data stream required.

2. Click the Find icon and select Find by Code or Find by Name as required.

Find by Code… The following window will appear; type the appropriate ticker code in the Enter Code fieldand click Find.

Find by Name…

The following window will appear; type in the name or part of the name in the EnterName field and click Find. The nearest matching name will be selected.

The icon to launch the utility is automatically placed in the Window’s System Tray (thearea next to the time usually located in the bottom right of your screen).

To launch the Find utility, double-click the icon or single click and select the Open option fromthe pop-up menu.

As depicted in the following graphic, you can choose the Exchange and security type to searchfor. As you enter the code in the Enter Code field, the screen cycles to the nearest selection.

Global ReplacingThe Global Replace utility enables you to update the path to your data files in the GemProprogram. This feature is useful if you have moved the location of your database.

To update the GemPro path settings to your database:

1. Click the Options menu item and select Full Menu from the drop down list.

2. Click the Edit menu item and then click Global Replace from the drop down list.

3. Enter the path to replace in the Find field and the enter the new path in the Replace Withfield. In this example we are replacing all reference to the folder c:\gempro\ with thefolder d:\gempro\.

Import Data to Rebuild Portfolio Grid (MetaStockFormat)It is possible to re-build the data grid from the actual data files. This feature is only applicablefor MetaStock compatible format and, in most cases, should only be completed when you areinstructed to do so by your data service provider.

To rebuild your Portfolio Grid (when instructed by support) complete the following:

Launch GemPro and click the Options menu item and select the Full Menu item.

Click the File menu item, then click Import Data Details. The following screen shouldappear.

When the importation process has finished, the Portfolio Grid for the selected Data Stream willhave been re-built using your datafiles. To rebuild additional data streams, repeat the processas outlined above.

Watch ListsCreate a Watch ListThe Watch List feature in GemPro allows you to create custom folders of data files that can beaccessed by your charting software. The duplicated data files are automatically updated whenyou collect your data.

There are two types of Watch Lists that you can have. One where you determine thesecurities to be included in the Watch List and the other which collects a pre-set list residenton the server, such as a listing of all the stocks that belong to the FTSE100 or the ASX200.

The custom folders are created with the name given for each Watch List and are located in the Data\Watch List folder of your GemPro software.

1. Open the Portfolio Grid by clicking the Open Portfolio icon

3. Click the Create Watch List icon and select Create User-Defined Watch List .

4. Enter a Name for your custom Watch List.

5. Click the Save Name button to create the new Watch List as depicted below. Repeat step3 and 4 to create additional watch lists.

You can only create pre-set watch lists for data streams that you are presently collecting. Forexample, collecting the London FTSE100 list will be of no use if you are only collecting theAustralian Stock Exchange data !

OverviewGemPro makes it possible to create your own customizable folders containing data for specificstocks, securities or indices you have chosen. Each Watch List can be easily updated oramended when you need to add or remove items.

Each Watch List allows you to quickly review the trading activity in each list directly fromGemPro, as well as from your charting software program.

All customised Watch List data folders are located in the Data/Watch List folder of theGemPro main folder and use the same name as the actual Watch List created.

NOTE: In Version 4.5 and over, you can have upto 2000 securities per Watch list folder. Ifyou are using a MetaSock compatible database then you can have upto 2000 securities per

directory. However, not all programs can read this format (for example older programs suchas SuperChart). In this case its upto the user to limit their watch list selections to 255securities. Going beyond this limit does not create a problem, it just makes these extrasecurities invisible.

Add Securities to a Watch ListTo add securities to a watch list:

1. Create a Watch List – please refer to Create a Watch List for more information.

2. Select the Watch List to update.

3. If you wish to create a duplicated database in this folder then check-mark the ReplicateData Files check box.

4. Click the Add Group icon to show the following screen.

9. Close the Add Security screen to return to the main Watch List view.

10. If you have check-marked the Replicate Data Files check box to have a duplicateddatabase in this folder then this will be created now.

NOTE: You can create a duplicated database at any time by check-marking the Replicate

Data Files check box (if not already checked) and clicking on the Refresh Icon .

Refreshing a Pre-Set Watch ListOver a period of time the members of a pre-set watch list change. For example, the stocksbelonging to the FTSE100 change every few months. It is essential therefore to refresh apre-set watch list at regular intervals such as once a month.

Real Time SnapshotOverviewThe Real-Time SnapShot is an optional service that enables you to collect the most recenttrading information on groups of up to 15 stocks or indices at any one time. You can maintainan unlimited number groups to easily retrieve the current trading data for any of yourfavourite stocks. The snapshot is available during normal Exchange trading hours andprovides data as at the last completed trade for each stock. Currently it is only avaliablefor the Australian Stock Exchange.

The most useful feature of the snapshot service is to distribute the most rescentdata to your database and to chart the data immediately.

Creating a SnapShot GroupTo use the SnapShot utility you need to subscribe to the SnapShot service and set up yourSnapShot Lists as follows.

1. Open the Portfolio Grid by clicking the Filing cabinet icon.

2. Click the SnapShot Tab to open the Snapshot view.

3. Click the Create New Snap Group icon to show the following form.

4. Enter a Name for your snap Group and click the Create button.

5. Add stocks or indices to the Snap List you created by selecting the Snap List name on theleft and entering a stock or index code in each cell of the column named Code.

6. For each stock or index entered, enter an S or I respectively in the adjacent cell namedTag to identify the security as a Stock or an Index .

7. Click the Save icon to save your snap list.

8. To collect a Snapshot refer to Collecting Snapshot Data .

Collecting SnapShot DataTo collect a SnapShot , follow the steps below -

1. Connect to your Internet Service Provider in usual way.

2. Open the Portfolio Grid by clicking the Filing cabinet icon.

3. Click the SnapShot Tab to open the Snapshot view.

4. On the left pane of the SnapShot screen, select the SnapShot group-name to update.

5. The information for the last SnapShot will be displayed in the SnapShot grid. If there areno stocks listed in the grid, refer to Creating a SnapShot Group.

6. Click the Download icon to show the following form.

7. Click the Collect SnapShot button to collect the latest prices.

8. If the Auto Distribute check box is ticked, the the real-time prices will be automatically

distributed to your database. Otherwise click the Distribute icon

Market DepthIn addition to the Open, High, Low, Close and Volume information, you can also retrieve aSnapShot of the Market Depth for stocks.

To collect the Market Depth for a stock, you need to subscribe to the SnapShot service andhave at least one current SnapShot List. Please refer to Creating a SnapShot Group for moreinformation.

To collect Market Depth information, please follow the steps below.

1. Connect to your Internet Service Provider in usual manner.

2. Open the Portfolio Grid by clicking the Filing cabinet icon.

3. Click the SnapShot Tab to open the Snapshot view.

4. On the left pane of the SnapShot screen, select the SnapShot group-name and click on thestock you wish to obtain the Market Depth for. If there are no stocks listed in the grid,please refer to Creating a SnapShot Grop.

5. Click the Market Depth icon to show the following form.

6. Click the Collect Market Depth button to update the Market Depth trading information asshown below.

selected criteria of your Scan. You can choose to scan for stocks that meet criteria based onFundamental Data, Short Term Analysis, Trend indicators, Momentum indicators andCandlestick patterns.

Create a Market ScanThe Market Scanner allows you to create a data folder containing the stocks that meet theselected criteria of your Scan. To create a New Market Scan:

1. Open the Portfolio File by clicking the icon and selecting the gold Market ScanerTab.

2. Select a Data Stream for an Exchange, such as Stocks under Australian StockExchange.

3. Click the Create New Scan icon to open the Scanning Wizard screen.

4. If you wish to scan a specific Industry Group, click on the Industry Group name.

5. The Scan Wizard can also filter stocks by Fundamental Criteria. If you wish to include

Fundamentals in your scan, select the criteria and enter the required parameters.

6. If you wish to scan by no other criteria then just click the Scan Fundamentals Onlybutton.

7. To scan by Technical Indicators only, do not check the Scan by Fundamentals check box. Instead, click the Scan by Technical Criteria button to open the Select Scan Type screenbelow.

8. Choose the Entry or Exit indicators as required and select Daily, Weekly or Monthlyperiodicity as appropriate. Click the Next > button to select the parameters for theIndicator chosen. In the example below the Absolute Price Change Indicator has beenselected.

9. Choose the Absolute Price Change parameters as appropriate and click the Next > buttonto displaya summary of the Scan Criteria you have chosen (see below).

10. Click the Scan Now button to start the scan.

The parameters for each indicator will vary and for more information regarding theavailable indicators and their parameters, please go to Scanning Options -Summary

11. Once the scan is complete the dialog box, (below), will appear.

To save the results simply enter a unique name and a description (which is optional) andclick on the Save button.

If you do not want to save the current scan result just click on the Cancel button to closethe dialog box

Scanning Tips 1. Do Fundamental Criteria Scans First It is not possible to do a fundamental criteria scan of the results of a Technical criteria scan soalways do the Fundamental criteria scan first, save the results, then perform theTechnical criteria scan.

2. Use Upper and lower case letters when saving scan results

You can use upper and lower case letters and spaces to enhance readablity when saving theresults of a scan. For example: "20 Period MA Crossover" instead of "20periodmacrossover"

3. Avoid saving every scan you do

Please note that GemPro is configured to automatically rerun every scan that has been savedafter updating the database. This extra workload will add to the time Gempro takes tocomplete all activities.

We recommend that you only save the scans you wish to Gempro to perform on a regularbasis.
