*I designed this schedule in WEB layout. (Microsoft Word: tool bar: view: web layout). You may have to adjust the tables if you want to view it in print layout. Exploration Education graphic and BrainPOP logo used with permission. Notes about the library, supplies I need, etc. are added for my convenience. Feel free to delete. How to use this schedule: Move down through the topics. Do the main lesson from the spine (either or both) Exploration Education and/or Exploring Creation with Physical Science and then do the activities to the right as desired (printables, activities, kits, movies, etc.). Once you've moved through all of the columns in a row, then move down to the next row and so on. This schedule is meant to be a "buffet". Columns that extend into more than one row are meant to be used as desired during the main topic grouping. Question: Why do you schedule in SO many books and activities? Answer: I believe that the best retention is obtained by using a variety of sources and activities. It's also interesting and beneficial (at least for us) to read or hear about a topic presented several different ways. AND… a lot of the items add to the "fun factor". Sometimes Otter doesn't get something the way it's presented in one book, but then after seeing it in a video, or learning about it in an activity (or whatever), suddenly the light bulb will go on! We LIKE learning about the same thing via "different voices" and methods of instruction. We also love science. Having said that though, this is an ambitious schedule (as most of my schedules are, if you are familiar with them). Treat it like a buffet and don't get bogged down in all the "stuff". Question: How do I use Exploration Education and Exploring Creation with Physical Science at the same time? Answer: I think we are going to probably do alternate between the two. In other words, maybe we'll do chapter 1 in Exploration Education and then module 9 in Exploring Creation. Or we may just do an entire section (chapters 1-5 in Exploration Education) and then the corresponding chapters in Exploring Creation.

How to use this schedule: Move down through the topics. Do the main lesson from the spine (either or both) Exploration Education and/or Exploring Creation with Physical Science and then do the activities to the right as desired (printables, activities, kits, movies, etc.).Once you've moved through all of the columns in a row, then move down to the next row and so on. This schedule is meant to be a "buffet".Columns that extend into more than one row are meant to be used as desired during the main topic grouping.

Question: Why do you schedule in SO many books and activities?Answer: I believe that the best retention is obtained by using a variety of sources and activities.

Question: How do I use Exploration Education and Exploring Creation with Physical Science at the same time?Answer: I think we are going to probably do alternate between the two. In other words, maybe we'll do chapter 1 in Exploration Education and then module 9 in Exploring Creation. Or we may just do an entire section (chapters 1-5 in Exploration Education) and then the corresponding chapters in Exploring Creation.

Question: Didn't you just do physics awhile back? Physical science seems to repeat some of the topics.Answer: We did do a brief overview of physics a couple of years ago, but I didn't get to a lot of the extras I had planned on using at the time and didn't really delve as deeply as I would have liked to. Some of the topics in this schedule will be a bit of review, while others will either be new or explored in more depth (and at a higher level of understanding).

Books

assignments I've scheduled to accompany our science lessons/topics. Some of the choices are purely for fun, only containing an element or two about what we are learning. Others expand on a lesson by adding a historical element or other connection.

Exploration Education Physical Science Advanced

Click here to see a table of contents.

We will probably NOT be doing a lot of the student notebook that comes with this program. Most of the writing Otter will do this year for science will be in the Exploring Creation with Physical Science Lapbook Journal instead.

*NOTE: In the schedule for ME I included screenshots of the table of contents for each chapter. I do not have permission to post Exploration Education's chapter headings so I've taken those out. I left in the very first one as a sample so you can see how that worked, in case you wish to recreate what I did (or just type it all in).
