Here's a new way to look atyour knitting -from the top down !

Each design in this book begins at the neck and works downtowards the lower hand, using a circular needlefor the body

and double-pointed needlesfor the sleeves.

It’s an ideal methodforpeople who love knitting hut notfinishing

... there are no seams to sew.

For a special look, stripes, cables orfair-isle motifs can be ivorked

in as you go, just like in conventional knitting.

These projects are suitable for any Batons knitting worsted

weightyarn, Tloey have a knitting tension in plain stocking

stitch of20 sts = 4 ins (10 cm) on 416 mm (U.S. 7) needles.

Several ofthe mostpopular K.W.

HELPFUL HLNTSFor best results, be sure to use the yarn

reconumended in the pattern, and pur-

chase enough of one dye lot to com-

plete your project. It is a good idea to

retain ball bands in case of inquiry.

Before you begin to knit check your ten-

sion by making a test swatch and adjust-

ing needle sizes, if necessar\\ to ol')tain

the tension qiu^ted in the pattern.

Inaccunite tension results in a gamient

too large or too small. F.ven a variation

of half a stitch makes an obx ious differ-

ence in the finished size. Loose tension

can result in the garment losing its

shape during wear or laundering.

Before beginning, read the instructions

and underline ‘all figures applying to

your size. Sizes should be chosen from

actual bust or chest measurements and

not age or ready-to-wear sizes.

If you are using Patons Classic Wool or

Patons Rustic Wool your garments can

be steamed into shape, following the

dimensions on the schematic diagrams.

Pin gamient to a flat surface and cover

with a damp doth. Press lightly using

a steam iron. When diy. unpin and

prcK'eed witli the Finishing lastmctions

gh en in the pattern.

If you are using Patons Canadiana or

Patons True North K.W. your giu raent

should not be steamed. If pressing is

required. Lay gannent right side downon a flat surface and pin to measure-

ments following .schematic diagrams.

Co\*er with a damp clotli and lea\x* to

diy.

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

Patons Classic Wool and Patons

Rustic Wool: Hand wash. Drv^ flat.

Patons Canadiana; Machine v^ ash.

Machine dry.

Patons True North K.W.: Machine

wash, cool water, gentle cycle. Dr\^ flat.

HAND WASHINGNote the measurements of tlie garment

before wasliing. Thoroughly dissolve

soap or mild detergent in lukewann

water. Place the garment in the suds and

squeeze gently. Do not rub or leave to

soak. Support the garment with your

hands as you remove it from die water.

Rinse twice in clean, lukewarm water.

MACHINE WASHING

Do up buttoas and turn die gamient

inside out. Wash the garment, preferably

on its own, with a gentle cycle, using

lukewann water and detergent. Softener

may be added to the fmal rinse. Do not

use bleach.

DRYING FLAT

Do not wring, twist or hang to diy. Lay

gamient on a flat surface away from

lights, sunlight and excessi\'e heat.

Wliile still damp, gently push gannent

back to its original measurements.

MACHINE DRYING

Tumble dry at Unv setting. Do not over-

heat.
