miles northeast of downtown Atlanta and is within a two‐hour flight of 80
percent of the U.S. popula on. The main County government offices are located
in the Gwinne Jus ce and Administra on Center in the county seat of
Lawrenceville.
Businesses are drawn to Gwinne County for its transporta on and water
distribu on and collec on infrastructure, skilled workforce, and business‐friendly
environment. Combined with easy access to major interstate highways and
Hartsfield‐Jackson Atlanta Interna onal Airport, it’s easy to understand why
Fortune 500 companies AGCO Corp., Asbury Automo ve Group, NCR, and
WestRock along with many other businesses, including about 500 interna onal
firms, have chosen Gwinne . The County supports Partnership Gwinne , a public
‐private economic development effort that targets five key sectors for economic
development: Advanced Manufacturing; Informa on Technology Solu ons;
Headquarters and Professional Services; Health Sciences and Services; and
Supply Chain Management.
Educa on is a top priority for employers, elected officials and parents alike.
Gwinne County Public Schools (GCPS), the largest school system in Georgia,
today serves more than 178,000 students. Buford City Schools and numerous
private schools also provide quality educa on to students in Gwinne County.
The Gwinne and Buford systems both boast some of the top‐ranked high
schools in the state by U.S. News & World Report, and GCPS twice has been
recognized with the na onal Broad Prize for Urban Educa on. Opportuni es for
higher educa on can be found at Georgia Gwinne College, Gwinne Technical

THE ORGANIZATION Gwinnett County has competent and stable
political leadership and professional manage‐

Commissioners, which is comprised of a
chairman elected at‐large and four district
commissioners. The commissioners appoint a
County Administrator to oversee a $1.5 billion
current operating budget and 12 depart‐

mation Technology Services (DoITS). Gwin‐
nett County departments and agencies are
challenged more than ever to drive innova‐
tion, to operate efficiently, to deliver cost‐
effective and robust solutions, to protect as‐
sets, and to position the County for the fu‐
ture. The Department of Information Tech‐
nology Services is a strategic partner with all
other business units in making solid invest‐
ments to meet these obligations as they re‐
late to our specific areas of responsibility.
Other elected officials include the Tax Com‐

the technology needs of these offices as well.
