Once again the Crim Fitness Foundation is bringing it’s nationally-acclaimed Crim Training Program back to the bricks of Flint! In Genesee County our unique program, serving everyone from beginners to experienced runners and walkers will get you ready to run or walk one of the Crim Festival of Races events on Saturday, August 28, 2010.

In order to meet the growing needs of our training programs, our groups have been redefined to improve and expand upon the successful run/walk training methods designed by experts such as former Olympian and noted author Jeff Galloway, a consultant to the Crim Fitness Foundation.

Please read the following information carefully.

Choose Your Training Program:

1. 5K/8K Run or Walk Program This walking or running program is well-suited to those just starting an exercise program and those who wish to participate in a shorter distance race.

2. 10 Mile Run or Walk Program: Walking or running program for all fitness levels.

Choose Your Training Program Level:

Level 1:This level is for those just starting an exercise program. If your Doctor has recommended that you participate in an exercise program, and you are not sure where to start, this would be the level for you.

Level 2:This level is for people who have a good general level of fitness, enjoy the social interaction of the program and want to participate in order to enhance their level of fitness. You may have participated in a Crim or other organized event or have been in the training program in previous years.

Level 3:For those who train year round and want to improve their “goal” time from previous races. These workouts will include and emphasize speed work, tempo work and long runs/walks.

GROUP WORKOUTS:These will be held every Tuesday at 6:00p.m. starting on May 18. All workouts will be held in Genesee County. You will have a chance to train on the Crim course. Sorry, no children, strollers, pets, or listening devices (ie. iPods) are allowed at group workouts.

PLACEMENT NIGhT:

The participant placement night is an important part of the training program. All 10 mile runners will meet Tuesday, May 11 and all walkers and 5K/8K runners will meet Wednesday, May 12. Both begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Ballenger Fieldhouse on the campus of Mott Community College. This will include a training run/walk to determine group placement.

The placement night is strongly recommended for proper placement in a group.

The Crim Training Program is a unique 15 week program designed by former

U.S. Olympian Jeff Galloway, noted author and training expert for Runner’s World Magazine.

Jeff Galloway will join us for a presentation and a training run/walk.

BROOKSIE WAY ExTENSION

Extend your training beyond the Crim. Sign up now to train for the Brooksie Way Half Marathon (13.1 miles) on October 3. Training groups will meet on Saturdays at 8:00 a.m. beginning September 4. Groups will meet in the Flint area. Entry fee is only $50 more when you sign up now (price goes up to $75 after start of the Crim Training Program). Participants will receive a Brooksie Way training shirt, entry into an additional area race and the Brooksie Way Half Marathon.
