Dear Church Family,

I wanted to thank you very much for

family and me. Also, I'm very grateful

Dear Church Family, It's always a joy and a blessing to share what's on my mind with you. Time goes by so fast. It was not long ago when I heard the grown-ups say it when I was a child. Now, as a parent, it is so much a reality I have to deal with every day—and it's already November! One thing that comes to my mind when we get to this part of the year is gratitude. Of course, as you may guess, fear of winter is also on my mind! But, "being grateful" is something that helps me look at my feelings about winter with a different set of eyes. Instead of not liking this season, I choose to focus on the fact that winter has a beginning and an end, just like all other things we face in life. Lately, I am learning how to be thankful for everything, especially in light of what my family and I have gone through. Out of my reflection on thankfulness, I will be talking about four ways being grateful can change us. And, we will do it throughout this month (November) in worship. Paul encourages us to "give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:18, NIV). We do it not only because it is what God wants us to do all the time, but it is, more importantly, beneficial to each one of us: physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. So, every time you show gratitude and say thanks to God, remember that you're not just doing it for God. The one who gets the benefits of being thankful is not God, but you. Not only do you benefit from showing gratitude, but being thankful changes who you are and how you see the world around you. I know you may feel that there isn't much to be thankful for today. Let me tell you, that's not right. It is only that we don't pay enough attention to the good in us and around us, and then think there is nothing significant to be grateful for in life. So, don't miss church this month as we learn all about how to be grateful and how this changes us. See you in worship! "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV). Pastor Emmanuel

Our farming community has had a challenging fall based on weather and the planting/growing season. Sigh. If you have a time crunch on your hands consider turning to a book of devotions. They are quick, direct, and thought provoking. Deb Morrow, Church Librarian 1- Inner Simplicity: 100 Ways to Regain Peace and Nourish Your Soul by Elaine St. James can help “you reduce the clutter in your lives, work less, and enjoy life more.”* 2-“You wouldn’t expect to make it through the morning without a nutritious breakfast, so why skimp on spiritual nourishment? Start your day with full-strength spiritual inspiration!”* Check out Breakfast With God from our church library for your breakfast of champions. 3-“When the news is all bad and the sky is all gray, and the chocolate is all gone… a good friend can make everything right with the world.”* At the Heart of Friendship reminds us “the nicest place in all the world is right beside a friend.”* 4-Boomerang Joy: Joy that Goes Around, Comes Around, 60 Devotions by Barbara Johnson. This author’s “fun-filled insights will help you revel in your relationship with God and spread the joy of knowing His Love.”* 5- Barbara Johnson “knows firsthand how the smallest splash of joy can soothe broken hearts with the light of God’s love.”* Try Daily Splashes of Joy: 365 Gems to Sparkle Your Day. 6-“We Brake for Joy!: 90 Devotions to Add Laughter, Fun, and Faith to Your Life offers upbeat devotions to help you to live out your faith with verve and style.”* 7.These little readings are packed with Scripture and reflections.
