Geometry City Design Project
Due Date: _____________________
You are a city planner and are assigned to design your own city. Create your city on a piece of graph paper.
Your city must include:
At least three parallel streets At least two transversal streets, one of which is perpendicular to the parallel lines Streets do not have be across the entire page
You must include the following buildings and locate them as stated:
A gas station and a restaurant placed at alternate exterior angles Your house and a school placed at same-side interior angles A courthouse and a bank placed at vertical angles A general store and a police station placed at corresponding angles A library and a park at placed alternate interior angles
The buildings below must have the specified shapes (mark congruent sides and angles appropriately): Your gas station must be drawn as an obtuse scalene triangle Your police station must be drawn as a regular pentagon Your courthouse must be drawn as a right isosceles triangle Your library must be a concave hexagon
In addition: Your city must be titled with a name and population All streets and buildings must be clearly labeled with appropriate names Write the equation of your street lines (one equation per street) on each street You city must be neat and be colored On a separate sheet of paper, write a paragraph that summarizes the angle measure relationships
between pairs of corresponding angles, same-side interior angles, alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, and same-side exterior angles created when parallel lines are cut by a transversal. For example, you know that corresponding angles are congruent when parallel lines are cut by a transversal. Use correct spelling and grammar.

___ Your house and a school are at same side interior angles
___ A courthouse and a bank are at vertical angles
___ A general store and a police station are at corresponding angles
___ A library and a park are at alternate interior angles

A partially completed example city is shown below. Yours will need to include all buildings specified above, and the written paragraph about angle relationships.
