Why are you interested in serving on a board or commission?

My primary interests lie in ameliorating economic and healthcare disparities within our county. Myeducational background in healthcare and business has helped me understand the nuances of creating asafe, healthy public. Experiences in free clinics, such as the Loudoun Free Clinic, have helped meunderstand the gravity of the situations that many of our residents face daily, some related to healthcareand others related to adequate housing and resources. I have also collected experiences in publishingseveral peer-reviewed journal articles and founding nonprofits to optimize elder care and debateeducation, both in Pittsburgh and Virginia. These opportunities allowed me to develop an appreciation forapproaching systems (healthcare and beyond) with an evidence-based, scientific methodology. I alsohave an extended network of physician and business contacts who are ready to help me better ourcommunity. Indeed, I am eager to contribute my experiences and knowledge to better the community thathas shaped who I am and offered me all the wonderful opportunities I have enjoyed throughout my life. Iam confident that my experiences thus far have prepared me well to put my knowledge into action to helpoptimize our already-outstanding county’s economic and healthcare systems. My first choices incommittees are: Loudoun Health Council and Health Systems Agency of Norther Virginia
