Class discussion about what the students know about the Statue of Liberty National Monument School Mascot – Bulldog – could that be

considered a monument? Read Lady Liberty After completing the reading of Lady Liberty

Students will retell the main idea We will then flip back through the pages to look

at each picture and discuss how people may have lived in that time. How does that vary from how we live today?

We will also discuss events that happened in the book. As the students are stating the events I will list them on strip paper for retelling and sequencing of the story.

Review of what we have been learning about our country and our school the last couple of days. Listing what the students mention on the

white boardSome prompting questions would be: Tell

me what we have learned about the United States Flag? What have we learned about our National Anthem? What have we learned about our school?

During our Social Studies block we will complete the virtual tour of the Statue of Liberty.

After the virtual tour is completed we will discuss as a class what the students learned. Where the Statue of Liberty is located?Who gave us the State of Liberty?What the Statue of Liberty is made of?

Color a small picture of the Statue of Liberty.

They will glue this into their pop up construction card

List below the pop up, where the Statue of Liberty is located, what it is made of, and who gave it to us.
