CRITERIA: Tabulated values are based on generally accepted thermal conductance values fornormal weight concrete and are determined for the product only, with no air films or insulation.

resistance of the individual layers. The PCI Design Handbook lists thermal properties for various types of building materials.

Due to its density, Spancrete has the capacity to absorb and store large quantities of heat.

APPLICATION: The overall thermal resistance of a floor or roof section is the sum of the

This results in energy savings and should be considered in the design of heating and coolingequipment Thermal storage effects are also addressed in the PCI Design Handbook

Acoustical Properties of Spancrete

SCOPE: The following tables contain values for the Sound Transmission Class (STC) and theg ( )Impact Insulation Class (IIC) of various floor systems utilizing Spancrete hollowcore slabs.

CRITERIA: The values for the Sound Transmission Class were determined by tests which were

with ISO recommendation R 140 (E), and the values were computed in accordance with ASTMin accordance with ASTM E90. The Impact Insulation Class tests were done in accordance

RM 14-4 and HUD FT/TS-24

transmission and is highly dependent on the floor surface and structural connection details.

RM 14 4, and HUD FT/TS 24.

As with the STC the higher IIC values are more desirable Refer to the PCI Design Handbook

APPLICATION: The STC is a measure (in decibels) of the ease at which airborne sound istransmitted through a floor system. The larger the value of the STC for a given system, the greater the sound insulation. The Impact Insulation Class is the resistance to impact noise
