but only fights to protect the state and home from outside enemies• Apollo - Is the son of Zeus and Leto. His twin sister is Artemis. He is
the god of music• Aphrodite - Is the goddess of love, desire and beauty• Hermes - Is the son of Zeus and Maia. He is Zeus’s messenger. He is
the fastest of the gods. He wears winged sandals• Artemis - Is the daughter of Zeus and Leto. Her twin brother is
Apollo. She is the lady of the wild things. She is the huntsman of the gods
• Hephaestus - Is the son of Zeus and Hera, He is the god of fire
The ancient Greeks were the first students of philosophy. They wanted to know the meaning of life and how people should live.
Greek philosophers like Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle still influence people today.
Socrates encouraged people to think for themselves and to ask questions.
Classical Greek Philosophy

Socrates was a great Greek philosopher.He was tried and found guilty of corrupting
the youth of Athens. For encouragingpeople to ask questions, he was forced
to commit suicide by drinking poison hemlock

Pythagoras, Euclid, and Archimedes were important Greek mathematicians.

inventions that people still use today.
The ancient Greeks were the first people to perform plays
and write comedies and dramas.
A legacy is defined as something handed down from the past.
The ancient Greeks have passed down many important ideas and inventions to our modern world.
Democracy, the use of columns, mathematical ideas, and philosophies are just a few of the ideas passed down to modern people from the ancient Greeks..
