This trek takes us into the biblical lands with tales of lost cities, hidden amongst the jebels and wadis of the Arabian desert. Our challenge takes us from the shores of the Dead Sea, deep into the desert and the stunning hidden city of Petra, camping under the stars along the way in Bedouin tents. We experience the pro-found silence of the desert as Moses, Lawrence of Arabia and camel trains have done for centuries. DAY 1 JORDAN We depart London on our flight to for the Jordanian capital. On arrival we transfer to our comfortable hotel in centre of town. DAY 2 DANA NATURE RESERVE This morning we wake early and have a full briefing over breakfast before transferring 3.5HRS into the Dana valley where we start our trek , drop-

ping steeply at first before descending through the Biosphere Reserve to-wards Feynan. From the irrigated gardens to the scorching sand dunes of

the Great Rift Valley, today’s walk takes you through one of the most dra-

matic and diverse landscapes in the whole region. We are likely to see Griffin Vultures, hyrax and copper-blue lizards and if you’re lucky a glimpse

of an ibex or a desert fox. On reaching Feynan we are welcomed into our

Bedouin camp and this evening we have a sunset walk before re-turning to camp for our first night under the stars. DAY 3 WADI ARABA DESERT We leave Wadi Feynan and start on our trails towards Furon. As we pass the entrance to Wadi Ghweir you'll climb up through the mountains on a steep and challenging section of the trek, but ex-tremely rewarding with stunning and wonderful views towards the fascinating Wadi Araba Desert. The trail leads up into the moun-tains through a dramatic valley and in the afternoon we reach the camp set up by our crew Bedouin crew.

DAY 4 THE SHARAH MOUNTAINS After a good breakfast we follow a path of Bedouin shepherd trails contouring the Sharah Mountains. The terrain undulates as we expe-rience astonishing views on the most remote sections of the trail, trekking along infrequently travelled sections that are harder to identi-fy. Our expert guides will take us through a myriad of trail options to safely lead us through the peaks of black mountains overlooking the trail. An absolutely spectacular trekking day to our camp at Gbour Whedat. DAY 5 LITTLE PETRA After yesterday's remote hike, today while we approach Little Petra, and see signs of increasing human habitation. Along the way we pass Bedouin camps, sheep pens, and small agricultural plots. In this region we will also pass Nabatean ruins, some of which may include wine and olive presses, aqueducts and ancient water infrastructures. We visit Little Petra, believed by archaeologist to be a "suburb" of Petra, and meant to house traders traveling along the silk road con-necting Africa to Asia, Europe and Arabia. Touring Little Petra, we will see rock carved facades, houses and other ancient buildings carved into the sandstone canyon. Overnight at a Bedouin Camp in Little Petra. DAY 6 PETRA For the highlight of our challenge we trek from our campsite on rela-tively flat terrain to the 2000 year old city of Petra. The vast complex stretches over several kilometres and was a strategic centre for the old silk and spice routes which crossed the Middle-East, Asia and Africa. Petra prospered for centuries with a population of about 25,000 at the height of its power. The Nabateans built Petra on a ter-race pierced from east to west by Wadi Musa (Moses) one of the places where Moses struck a rock and ‘water gushed forth’. The val-ley is enclosed by sandstone cliffs, veined with shades of red, purple and pink, out of which the city’s monuments and temples were hewn. On arrival at the site we climb for an hour up the well-worn steps to the Monastery, Petra’s most awe-inspiring monument. Tonight our hotel is a welcome delight and we enjoy a celebratory meal to mark the end of an incredible challenge. DAY 7 THE DEAD SEA Today we experience the last of the highlights of our time in Jordan. After breakfast we transfer 3hrs to our Hotel on the shores of the Dead Sea. Here at an altitude of minus 430m we find ourselves at the lowest place on earth. We have a completely free day to enjoy floating in the salt waters of the Dead Sea, having a mud bath spa session and generally relaxing and recuperating from the last tough five days trekking. This evening we make our way back to the airport for our overnight flight home. DAY 8 ARRIVE UK
