Getting to know the characters

and the settings of

the play

WORKSHEET 1 FLASHCARDS

Use the flashcards so that students learn the names that will be useful for the play:

GOLDILOCKS, DADDY BEAR, MUMMY BEAR, BABY BEAR, HOUSE, BED, PORRIDGE, CHAIR, HAPPY/SAD (tell your kids to look again at Goldilocks’ first two flashcards

and ask if she is happy or sad).

You can tell your students that these three bears are a family and they live in the forest. Ask the children what kind of bear do they think “Daddy bear” is? Is he a

big bear? How does he walk, what kind of voice does he have? What is “Mummy

bear” like? And “baby bear” how old do they think baby bear is? What is he like?

How does he walk and talk? You could put on some music and get them to walk

around the room pretending to be the different bears.

AIM

To learn the song Going Home

WORKSHEET 3

Give the children WORKSHEET 3 and get them to act out the signs for “home”,

“eat” and “bed” and write the words. Make sure that they have understood the

meanings.

TRACK 2 – GOING HOME

Listen to the song, as they listen they can do the actions every time they hear the

words; “Home”, “eat” and “bed”. Then they can link the pictures to the words

they relate to.

Song-IF YOU’RE HAPPY AND YOU KNOW IT

APPENDIX 1and 2

Show the children the Flashcards in the APPENDIX 1 and tell them to show the following emotions: HAPPY AND SAD . The students can cut the flashcards and

when you shout happy or sad they show you the correct one.

You can then do exactly the same for the actions in the APPENDIX 2: clap you

hands , stamp your feet , nod your head , shout hurrah . Then play the song

and sing along.

TRACK 2 GOING HOME

SYNOPSIS

Goldilocks goes out for a walk one day. She knows she’s not allowed to go into the forest but today she

decides she wants to. At the same time The Three Bears, who live in the forest, are preparing porridge for

breakfast. Porridge is a hot cereal typical in Britain. The porridge is too hot to eat, so they decide to go

for a walk. After they leave, Goldilocks finds the house and decides to go in. As she walks in, she can

smell the porridge and it makes her hungry. She goes into the kitchen and tries some from the first bowl,

but it is too hot. She tries some from the second bowl but it is too cold. She tries some from the third bowl

and it is just right, so she eats it all. After eating she is tired, so she goes into the living room to sit down.

The first chair she sits on is too high, the second is too low and the third is just right, so she sits on it but it

breaks!

By now she is really tired so she decides to go to bed. She finds three beds. The first is too hard, the

second is too soft and the third is just right, so she falls asleep. As she sleeps the bears come home and

find that someone has eaten all the baby’s porridge, has broken his chair and is sleeping in his bed!

What will Goldilocks do when she wakes up and sees the three bears?
