1 EXT. REMOTE COUNTRY AREA - DAY tl

The only sounds that can be heard in the isolated tree covered countryside are the birds' chirping and the wind through the branches as they suay. The peace is broken by the sudden roar of the engine of a small flying craft as it barely clears the top of the trees.

BILLY (O.C.) Thomerson's daughter, Tina, is competing in a pro-am tennis tournament there. Everyone's pitching in on this one -- NSA, FBI, CIA, us -- and ue drew her. Our job's to keep an eye on her for the remainder of the conference.

AHANDA Nice suit.

LEE It's part of the cover.

AMANDA You look just like the man at the department store selling vegetable peelers.

LEE Cute.

(all business) More to the point... when we spot Tina, hang back and watch how I get her confidence. She's a handful... off the wall. Improvisation's the key.

J

ANANDA I've gone through Tina's file now five or six times. Sure, she's... high-spirited, but I don't think she's impossible.

Suddenly a gaggle of young people bursts into the lobby. A vivacious young woman we recognize as Tina Thomerson is at the enter. A take-charge woman (Donna) separates Tina from the gaggle. In her mid-thirties, Donna is a no-nonsense woman who prefers Western suits. She's got a large purse hanging on her shoulder.

LEE If she was impossible, I wouldn't be here.

B

Tina and Amanda are standing in the middle of the reception area, talking.

TINA Amanda, I'm so nervous about talking to Daddy. Every time I think about it, I get terrible butterf1ies.

/""^ As they talk, Lee crosses to them. He's smiling.

LEE Good news.

Amanda looks ready to reprimand him, but Lee signals her to hold on. Lee leads Amanda toward the Reception Area.

LEE Relax...it's just a joke. The car's right outside.

ANANDA Okay...I guess she's earned a little payback. It's just, she's so nervous about her dad --

LEE Don't worry about Tina. She can handle herself. Besides, you and I have some unfinished business to take care of.

We hear the cocktail orchestra strike up o.s.

AP1ANDA Such as ...

LEE Weren't we in the middle of discovering all the things we

/—- could do well together when we were rudely interrupted?

AHANDA So we were...
