I am very proud of the people in our new congregation for our openness to change. This past summer we changed the day, place, and

style of worship. We were able to offer a powerful dedication of our property with not a lot of planning time. Now we are going to change our worship location. All of these changes happened quickly—and were led by

the Steering Committee. They happened because the Steering Committee believes the changes will help our new congregation live

more fully into our Purpose Statement and Core Values. The following Question and Answer sheet was approved by the Steering Committee.

It shares the thought process of changing our worship location. Why are we moving to Da Vinci Charter School to worship? The Steering Committee believes that we have a better opportunity to live into our Purpose Statement and Core Values by worshipping

at Da Vinci Charter school. This decision is primarily about the mission of our new church. The school is located only two miles from our new property. The Steering Committee believes we will have a better opportunity to bless the people who live near our new property by worshipping at Da Vinci Charter School.

The change in our worship setting is a “New Beginning.” This new beginning is much more than a worship location change. We have already started worshipping in a new way this past summer. We plan on continuing to worship in new ways as we worship at Da Vinci

Charter School. Where is Da Vinci Charter School located At the intersection of 131st Ave and Highway 65 in Blaine—just north of Cub Food. The easiest way to find the school is to go north on

Highway 65 and turn right on 131st Ave. Map is on our web site. When will this start? The first worship service will be Sunday, September 9. We will have a “New Beginnings” service on Sunday, October 14th. We will

intentionally invite people to the “New Beginnings” service—it will be similar to the Grand Opening service at the Senior Center when eight new families came to worship What time will worship start?

The same time—10:30 a.m. How about Sunday School and Child Care Sunday School and child care will be offered during worship—just as it was at the Senior Center.

How much will this cost? $200 a week or $10,400 a year. It costs $700 a month at the Senior Center or $8,400 a year.

How about set-up? How will we do that? We just proved this past summer that we can set-up at a school. Through Sundaes on Wednesday we were able to set-up and tear down every week. That set-up and tear-down actually brought our congregation together as we were able to work together on this

ministry. The school has a high quality sound system and audio visual system. We won’t have to set up either one of those.

How about storage? In the near future we won’t be able to store many of our items at Da

Vinci. In the immediate future we will store our equipment at a room adjacent to the Lovell Office. New churches frequently store their equipment. How long will we worship at Da Vinci?

Only God knows. As we do with every decision we will evaluate the decision to see if it is helping us live more fully into our Purpose and Core Values. In our contract we have a sixty day out, so we can leave the school for another location with sixty days notice.

You talk a lot about meeting the needs of the people who live near our new property. How about people who don’t live in that area? Everyone is always welcome to Chain of Lakes. One of our Core Values is Hospitality, meaning that we will go out of our way to

welcome people as Jesus welcomed them, with an open heart and open arms. The reason we talk so much about the Lakes area right now is this will be our next target area. For the next time period we will focus our marketing and advertising efforts on this area. The vision of this new congregation when it was started was for the

congregation to be a large congregation in the north Metro that started other congregations. As the congregation grows we will broaden our marketing and advertising efforts to include all of Blaine/Lino Lakes/Ham Lake/Centerville and other north Metro communities. Since we don’t have unlimited resources to do this we

will focus our marketing and advertising efforts right now in the area near our new property. How can I help? We are organizing a “New Beginnings” group who will help plan the

Outreach efforts for New Beginnings. We would like a large group of people from Chain of Lakes to participate. The first meeting for this group is Wednesday, September 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Senior Center. With a large group of people planning for this new service we will be able to take our message into the community so new

people will come to worship on Sunday, October 14. Please consider participating!!

M u s i c M i n i s t r y L e a d e r Kristel Peters has been hired as the new Music Leader of Chain of Lakes New Church. Kristel’s first Sunday as Music Leader will be Sunday, September 23. Kristel (the last part of her name rhymes with bell) has a long history of leading music in a local church. For

almost four years she worked as a Music Intern at Grace Evangelical Free Church in Fridley. While she was there she planned and led Sunday morning worship services from the piano. She helped direct Grace’s chorale and orchestra, assisted with the children’s choir, and managed sound scheduling and equipment. Kristel received a Bachelor of Arts in General Music at Trinity Western University in Langley British Columbia. In June 2011 she received a Master of Arts Degree from Bethel University. Kristel will be working as an Administrative Assistant with the DNR in St. Paul Kristel has a genuine excitement about working in a new church. She shared in her cover letter that she enjoys working in a fast paced environment where she can work on multiple projects. Chain of Lakes New Church can certainly promise a fast paced environment. A special thanks to our Worship Team for the many hours they spent on the hiring process. Dave Nyberg (chair), Sally Leitch, and Angie Peek each went through many resumes, called to talk to candidates on the phone, called references, and then spent almost five hours discerning that Kristel is the person for this job. The work of these three went a long way to ensuring that our new congregation has a quality person in this very important position.

SUN DAY SCHOO L Faith is something we and children practice all the time when we believe that someone will do something. Christian faith is something we and children learn through experience and Christian education.

Faith is the courage to be forward-looking, not letting past negative

or difficult experience to stop our trust in God and life.

The God of Abraham, Sarah, and Isaac promises them land, many decedents, and a nation. Unable to see how this could be, still

Abraham and Sarah go on a journey by faith in God and God’s faithfulness to His promise. Faith, as defined in Hebrews 11:1 is “to be sure of the things hoped for (promise will be fulfilled), and to be certain of things we cannot see (like land, many descendants and a

nation).”

Beginning Sunday, September 9 - October 14, the children will be exploring the faith of Abraham and Sarah along with God’s promise of not only land but a great nation. They will learn what it means to

be blessed by God and how we can use God’s blessings in their daily

lives.

Thank you to the
