1 . Before making

・Approximate time to complete this section is three hours with out drying adhesive.・Take your time. Be courteousness! When you make it rough more likely to cause noise or short circuit. Which makes inaccurate or dose not work.

This kit include

1 White lead wire 150mm , Tin plated wire Shielded cable are for spear

A sheet of paper Tin foilFood wrapA Gas lighterA Scotch tape or sellotapeA epoxy adhesiveSome Alcohol tissue

ordinary office use (become cathode. avoid thick or color paper )about A4 paper size (become sensor and shield)about A4 paper size (become incidence film also insulator ) (to wipe out the oil on the case)

Tools and equipments you need Soldering iron kits Craft knife Ruler Permanent marker

(soldering iron, solder , a sponge , solder wick etc.)(easier to use catting mat )16cm will be enough(to mark positive pole)

GETTINGSTARTED

[ Processing Anode lead (Red wire 150ml) ]

From this part making guide for Geiger-Muller counter tube (now on shorten as GM tube)

1-1 . Making an air Geiger-Muller counter tube. [prepare cables]

1 Strip lead one side 10mm another side 50mm

[ Processing cathode lead (White wire 100mm) ] 1 Strip a lead one side 16mm another side 5mm

2 hold long end (16mm) flat 7mm from the top

[ Process detecting cable ] Strip both outer layer with 10mm

One end connect to Geiger-Muller tube. keep inner wires and cut outer wires. Twist to shape inner wires.

Another end connect to circuit board. Strip inner and outer wires. Twist to shape both wires.

2 leave short end (10mm) more process 50mm end pick one line and cut rest of wire turn back line at 20mm keep the line space with 1mm

3 The point meet line and lead seal with tape about one time . (when you seal the lead too much then can not go throw the hole on the film case.)

4 Mark a dot on the lead 30mm down from the top Insert anode lead to this point at page 7

5 When you done wipe anode line with alcohol tissue. To remove oil on the line.

Circuit board

At this point picture dose not show were to connect circuit board.

(when you want to see look for Kit manual No.2)

When you close the gap between the anode wire sens more accurate readings. On the other side if pole linedose not have gap can notread the radiation.

[ Paper crafting ](Cathode paper)This time cut paper to shape. Use ruler to make it accurate please.

1-2 . Making an air Geiger-Muller counter tube. [sheets crafting]

1 For cathode paper Cut 35mm×70mm

2 Place the Paper inside film case to shape it to curve

3 use epoxy adhesive to stick cathode lead (long end with flatten top.) stick flatten part on to the center top part of paper

[ Tin foil crafting ](Shield and detector) For shield Cut tin foil 75mm×40mm Place it on the paper makes easier to work with

For detector Cut another tin foil 35mm×70mm

[ Plastic bag crafting ](Insulator) For insulator Cut plastic bag to 40mm×120mm can be done with food wrap

[ Food wrap crafting ](Incidence film) For incidence film Cut food wrap to 35mm×35mm easier to make after GM tube is complete especially when you want to make it round shape

-5-

1-3 . Making an air Geiger-Muller counter tube. [Implement 1 ][ Place the detector ]

1 Wrap around detector case with tin foil tin foil35mm×70mm wrap it out side the case line the case bottom and foil stick a tape on the side when the tape is over the side cut it to accurate

2 make a circle around the case with tin plated wire tie it away about 45~90° from off centered small hole at bottom

Tighten it 10mm from the bottom do it by hand is fine

3 solder tin wire & detector cable (shielded cable) Please do carefully to not damage the case cut off excess cable

[ Wrap Insulator ]Wrap around the out side of case with plastic bag cut to 40mm×120mm secure with tape when tape is stick out from case then cut to exact size

Fit the bottom of the case

10mm

-6-

[ Install cathode ] 1 Insert paper in to the tube with cathode lead has through the small hole on the bottom of case

[ Place shield ] 1 Over the Insulator wrap shield tinfoil 75mm×40mm tin foil push it to line with case cap side secure with tape on the side this time again when the tape is stick out side then you need to cut it

2 tie around the tin plated wire again over the shield about 15mm from the bottom

then twist it to tighten and line with off set hole.

Make sure this line dose not contact with detecting line (tin plated wire)

2 Solder the cathode lead with tied tin wire on the shield Please do not melt the case

1-4 . Making an air Geiger-Muller counter tube. [Implement 2]

15mm from the case bottom

Vertically linewith the hole

At this stage please make sure that cathode and cathode lead has dried

If not dried completely that may course to the failure

-7-

[ Things you need to check before finish ]

1-5 . Making an air Geiger-Muller counter tube. [Implement 3][ Place Anode and Cathode wire ]

[ Place Incidence film ](Incidence film) 1 Geiger-Muller tube is all most done insert tube through the side panel of case

2 Open lid and remove incidence film Fill the lighter fuel into Geiger-Muller tube butane fuel is heaver than air So you hold tube under the lighter let it run for two seconds

3 After filling place back the incidence film quickly then shut lid

Once tube is airtight trim around the incident film

Place Anode wire (Red lead 100mm ) in to the hole on the bottom center hole stop at the mark try best to stay in center then stick with adhesive

Stick Cathode wire (White) too The first lead which you have through the case

Use plenty of adhesiveto stick it is better

[ detective part and shield is not touching ][ cathode and shield is connected ]
