What if you could put an endto a painful or deadly disease?

The goalof wiping out every single case of a disease is ambitiousand the challenges are enormous-but the potential benefitsare even greater.

Countdown to zero: Defeating Disease, a new exhibitiondeveloped in collaboration with The Carter Center, focuses ondiseases that are on track for global eradication-includingGuinea worm disease, which could soon become only the seco.nd

human disease ever eradicated, after smallpox.

Find out what it takes to contain, eliminate, or eradicatediseases. Cou ntdow n to Ze ro will show you how coordi natedefforts could break devastating cycles ofdisease, including polio, river blindness, lymphatic filariasis, and malaria, and controlothers, like Ebola, for which eradication may not be possible.

It won't be easy, but through research, international cooperation, health education-and sheer determination-the sufferingcaused by these diseases may soon be a distant memory.
