She wandered out of the ball diamond area, past the playground, across the soccer fields and into the parking lot. We were frantically looking for her. We stopped the game and asked everyone to look for our lost little girl. Paige did not know she was lost, she was just exploring. On and on she went. When we were are almost in a panic and I was about to call the police there came an old gentleman, holding Paige by the hand. Walking across the parking lot he said; Did you lose this little one?He said he was just out on a walk and this little girl walked up to him and took his hand. He knew she was lost so he brought her back to the ball diamond. For her mother and I it was a miracle. Homebound Communion

The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month in Worship. If you are homebound, or in the hospital and cannot attend church to receive communion, the sacrament can be brought to you. Please call the church office 702-384-4554 to make arrangements for a time during the week when the officers of the church may bring communion to you.

What does the Lord require of you? To act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly

with your God.

In March, we are collecting canned meats such as tuna, spam, salmon, sardines, and Vienna sausages.

Please return items to the Central Campus by March 17th.

What a Friend You Have in Stephen Ministry

“What a friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and griefs to bear!

What a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer!

Oh, what peace we often forfeit, Oh, what needless pain we bear,

All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer!”

What a Friend We Have in Jesus, Joseph M. Scriven, 1855

This familiar hymn verse brings to mind the eternal truth of the love and care our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ brings to us every day. Rest for the weary “Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” – Matthew 11:29-30 Stephen Ministry cares deeply for the weary. We are dedicated to joining hands, counseling, and lifting up in prayer those who carry burdens too great to bear. Here are some of the ways we can help:

Angel Tree Prison Ministry During this past Christmas season full of faith and hope – when you could have chosen so many

ways to express your love of Jesus Christ – thank you so much for saying “yes” to God through

your support and participation in the Angel Tree Prison Ministry. The children of prisoners

often experience abandonment, loneliness and shame that comes from having a dad or mom in

prison. Through your efforts, Grace PC blessed the hearts of 107 of these precious kiddos that

live right here in our community.

Amazing Grace Ministry The homeless and less fortunate in our valley are being served by Amazing Grace Ministry, and

it exists only with the prayers and support of your generous hearts. If you’ve donated your

time, talents, clothing, toiletries or monetary resources to serve our guests, bless your heart!

We appreciate and welcome your continued support, and if you’re looking to plug in to a hearts

WOMEN OF GRACE

The Women of Grace (WOG) are excited as plans are underway for this upcoming year.

Beginning March 7th, Kathy Koch will be leading a Bible study at Central Campus starting at

Noon. The theme for the remainder of the year will be, “Growing Older with Grace”. She will

be guided by the book, “Nearing Home” by Billy Graham. The discussion will focus on

“finishing well” as we each face the next phase of our life. Bring your lunch and join us in the

Fireside Room for a time of fellowship and study.

Throughout March, WOG will be supporting the Senior Food Project of Lutheran Social

Services. Package and canned foods can be brought to either campus. At Central, food can be

placed in the basket in the Narthex or in the wooden school house in Fellowship Hall. Providing

food staples will allow many seniors to stretch their tight food budgets.

Finally, mark your calendars for our spring event, “A Taste of Scotland” to be held May 4,

2019 at the Central Campus from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Janice Laird (702-401-2378) is the event

chairperson. If you would like to volunteer in some way, contact Janice for more details. An

afternoon of fun, food and fellowship is being planned. Tickets will go on sale in April. Stay

tuned for more details!!

Project Neon As a part of our Congregational meeting our attorneys presented the following report: Congregation, We are now in the middle of the discovery process in the NDOT litigation. We have just received discovery requests from NDOT and propounded the same to them. Upon completion of the first round of written discovery, we will be engaging in depositions and preparing expert reports. Expert reports will determine the amount of just compensation we believe are owed to the Church for the takings we allege, including damages to the property as a result of Project Neon. Initial expert reports are due at the end of May. After the initial expert reports are exchanged, the parties have agreed to attend a Court facilitated settlement conference. We believe this will be the first opportunity to potentially resolve the case as both sides will have an idea of the exposure it faces. If the parties cannot do so, we will continue with the discovery process and exchange rebuttal expert reports. A few months after the exchange of rebuttal reports, discovery closes. Once discovery closes, we will engage in motion practice and prepare for trial. Our trial is set for a 5 week stack on March 16, 2020 (which means that we can go on any of the five weeks beginning on March 16). While this may sound far away, this approximate year period allows for all the discovery and motion practice to occur which is necessary to prepare for trial. While we work through this process, we will be keeping you updated on developments. Also, we have been in contact with the City of Las Vegas as they have made an offer for a taking of 403 square feet on the north side of the Property off Charleston Boulevard for their Streetscape Project. The improvements in the proposed acquisition area by the City consist of landscaping improvements such as decorative rock, trees and bushes. We are still gathering information about this project and will report back as we proceed to understand the scope of potential impact on the Church’s property. Thank you for your continued support and patience as we undergo this important legal process to protect the Church’s Constitutional rights.
