الهيئة العامة للغذاء والدواء جهة مستقلة الغرض الأساسي لها هو القيام بتنظيم ومراقبة الغذاء والدواء والأجهزة والمنتجات

الطبية والتشخيصية، ومن مهامها وضع اللوائح الفنية والمواصفات في مجالات الغذاء والدواء والأجهزة والمنتجات

أو مصنعة محلياً بواسطة لجان فنية متخصصة، وقد قام قطاع الأجهزة والمنتجات الطبية بالهيئة سواءً كانت مستوردة الطبية

الأطراف الصناعية وتقويم فريق عمل مواصفات " (SFDA/MDS/TC 168) ضمن برنامج عمل الفريق رقم

المتطلبات –وأجهزة تقويم العظام الأطراف الصناعية ( "ISO 22523:2006) بتبني المواصـــــــــفة الدولية رقم " العظام

وقد اعتمدت هذه المواصفة كمواصفة ، والتي أصدرتها "المنظمة الدولية للتقييس" وذلك بلغتها الأصلية. "وطرق الاختبار

Foreword

Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) is an independent organization with purpose of regulating

and monitoring of foods, drugs and medical devices. One of SFDA functions is to issue national

Standards /Technical Regulation in the fields of foods, drugs and medical devices, whether imported

or manufactured locally, through specialized technical committees (TCs). SFDA medical devices

sector through the work program of technical committee (SFDA/MDS/TC 168) “Prosthetics and

orthotics” has adopted the International Standard No. (ISO 22523:2006) “External limb prostheses and

external orthoses — Requirements and test methods”, issued by “International Organization for

Standardization” in its original language. This standard is adopted with modifications in its original

language and has been approved as a national standard by SFDA CEO decision No (…) on (date).

- The modifications are mentioned in the Modifications Annex.

Scope

This International Standard specifies requirements and test methods for external limb prostheses and external orthoses, including

the following classifications from ISO 9999:

06 03 - 06 15 Orthoses

06 18 - 06 27 Limb prostheses

It covers strength, materials, restrictions on use, risk and the provision of information associated with the normal conditions of use

of both components and assemblies of components.

This International Standard does not cover special seating as it is not classified as an orthosis in ISO 9999 and it is not normally

body worn.

NOTE 1 It is intended to cover orthopaedic footwear (classification 06 33) in the future.

NOTE 2 The application of Quality Systems as described or referred to in ISO 13485 and ISO 13488 may be appropriate.
