After completion of the classroom portion of this course, students will solidify principles introduced in the course through a written examination and independently completed case studies. The goal of this course is to provide both credentialed and non-credentialed technicians with education about the safe and scientific utilization of cannabis in veterinary medicine. METHOD OF INSTRUCTION New subject material is presented in lecture format along with in-class discussion and case examples. Relevant articles and other resources will be made available to students. After completion of the classroom portion of the curriculum, independently conducted case studies allows compilation of learned material and the development of practitioner skills. ENROLLMENT PRE-REQUISITES Age: Students must be at least 18 years old at the time of enrollment Education & Experience: Either of the following 1. Credentialed veterinary technician with 2 years clinical experience 2. Non-credentialed veterinary technician with 5 years clinical experience Clinical Recommendation: Recommendation letter from two veterinarians COURSE OBJECTIVES Objective 1: Introduce the endocannabinoid system at a clinically-applicable level Objective 2: Discuss historical and current legal issues concerning cannabis and the veterinary community Objective 3: Develop functional understanding of the effects of cannabis on diverse body systems Objective 4: Introduce principles of product evaluation Objective 5: Discuss the development of administration and monitoring schedules

• COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course provides 12 hours of lecture-based education as the foundation for certification as a veterinary cannabis counselor. After completion of the classroom portion of this course, students will solidify principles introduced in the course through a written examination and independently completed case studies. • COURSE EVALUATION

Written Evaluation (due within 30 days of completion of webinars)

Six (6) Case Study Reports (due within 6 months of completion of webinars)

• TEXTBOOK(S) AND REQUIRED TOOLS OR SUPPLIES Required textbooks: None. Relevant articles and/or online resources will be made available to students. Supplies and/or tools: None. • CONTINUING EDUCATION (CE) & RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS

VCC certifications are valid for two years after the date of graduation. Eight hours of continuing education are required for renewal.

This CE requirement may be met by any of the following:

1. Cannabis-specific lecture with either veterinarian or technician license CE approval i.e. RACE approved CE, state board approved CE

2. Any lecture (in-person or online) hosted by Veterinary Cannabis Education & Consulting 3. Documented internship hours with a VCC-Specialist 4. Reputable cannabis education class with a clinical/medical focus (approved on a case-by-case basis)
