Our New President
With the dawn of a new Rotary year, comes the annual re-
newal of leadership positions within the levels of Rotary
organization: clubs, districts, and Rotary International. So too
with the Rotary Club of Yarmouth, as President Tammy
Glivinski rang the podium bell to call together the assembled members for camaraderie, commitment, and service to com-
munity and humanity.
A N N O U N C E M E N T S & N O -T I C E S
● Jim Saben – the District 7950 Installation Reception &
Dinner (Thursday, July 9, 5pm, Cranston, RI) for the incom-
ing District Governor, Kristine David, will also be the instal-lation of Assistant Governors, including Steve Albright.
(More information at ).
● Champ House Dinner – July 10 (see Curly Carey).
● Yarmouth Rotary Memorial Golf Tournament – Mon-
day, September 28, Cummaquid Golf Course. Co-chairs
John Lynch & Mike Duffy reminded members that the first
meeting of the Golf Committee would be after the Club
meeting.
● Yarmouth Food Pantry – Steve Albright indicated that
the Club meeting of July 17 will be the next quarterly collec-
tion for donations to the Yarmouth Food Pantry. During the
month of June, 80 new families were added to the number of
those availing themselves of this community service.
● Kevin Lennon provided a financial update from Curly’s
Crew. The initial goal was to raise $10,000. The result was
$16,000 and a net of $14,279! “…and we still have some T-
shirts left.”
PROGRAM: CLUB ASSEMBLY TO KICK-OFF THE
NEW ROTARY YEAR
President Tammy referenced the comparisons from the
new Rotary International President, K. R. Ravindran,
about managing and promoting Rotary like a business. To
that end, she noted that Club membership stood at 81
members and that one goal should be to strive for a 10%
growth in the coming year. (R.I. itself has only averaged
membership growth of 1.1% over the past ten years.) She
outlined other goals and challenges for New Generations,
Community Service, Rotary Foundation, and Rotary
Awareness.
John Cooke, Director of Public Image, digitally walked
members through checking in and logging on to the
Club’s Facebook page, the Club website, the backside of
Club Runner, and R.I.’s MyRotary.org. Jim Saben, Club
Secretary, outlined the new membership benefits through
the Rotary Global Rewards program, starting July 1st, and
pointed out the FAQ page for more information.
